We are pleased to offer this 1978 Porsche 930 Turbo finished in Sienna Metallic.  Debuted for the 1978 model year with a larger 3.3L turbocharged and intercooled engine, this 930 sends as much as 265 HP stock to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission.  This Turbo also highlights a massive upgraded intercooler, Bilstein shock absorbers, and a Cork leather interior with an original Blaupunkt radio, sunroof, and desirable factory Sport Seats.  This beautifully appointed 930 was originally deliver to Triangle Porsche-Audi of North Carolina and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut while showing less than 14k miles on the odometer, accompanied by the original toolkit and Porsche warranty booklet, and owner's manual.

This 930 is finished in the rare factory color of Sienna Metallic.  It sports wide bodywork, black stone guards, front fog lights, and an iconic tea Tray rear spoiler.  Some small paint chips are noted on the rear bumper, passenger side window frame, and exterior door handles.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery.  This Turbo rides on factory 16” Fuchs wheels dressed in Dunlop Direzza ZII tires dated from 2012.

Inside, you will find a beautiful Cork leather interior with factory Sport Seats, a sunroof, and an original Blaupunkt radio.  The cabin is described to have been kept in very good condition with all instrumentation and accessories remaining fully functional.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.3L turbocharged flat-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels.  A large B&B upgraded intercooler has been installed and the secondary air injection system has been removed.  Standard Bilstein green struts are equipped in front along with upgraded Bilstein yellow sport shocks in the rear.  The seller believes all routine services to have been kept up to date throughout the lifetime of the vehicle, although there are no service records available at this time. Images of the undercarriage are provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include multiple keys, the original Porsche warranty booklet, owner's manual, toolkit, spare tire, and a clean title.  Presented in a rarely seen paint color over a stunning Cork leather interior with Sport Seats, this low-mileage 930 would make a fine addition to any Porsche collection.

I’m not playing the golf in this event, we’re a sponsor, and it's for charity. I apologize if anyone has been inconvenienced but 137k for this the car is good price , it was not my intention to upset you. We’ve been in business for 31 years, I don’t think being transparen, or this not been important to us is a fair assessment, we really didn’t know how much was involved by selling a car through this application but will know for next time. My apologies John

You'd think someone would be available to answer all the questions on the closing day of the auction rather than golfing when you do a quick google of vin youll see previous for sale ad that showing overspray near vin label and a pillar badge, it becomes clear why hes golfing and not answering your questions .

@tampagarage I truly appreciate the positivity from you, I don’t know much about this company - appears to be high quality … a bit surprised this auction is not handled with full transparency or given the attention it needs out of simple respect to those of us whom are serious about the purchase.

  • tampagarage (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@jj.porsche- Blackhorse is a good company with a good reputation. Maybe if the car does not sell, they can work something out with Pcar to relist with more information. What a great car but I think some us want to know more about the story. I think knowing more about the care allows it to hit the premiums it deserves. I think we are 30k-50k shy here.

@tampagarage I really appreciate this feedback and fully agree. I was helping a friend with this auction, for the reasons stated in your comments - I am out.

I can’t imagine people bidding blindly without understanding ( body condition, accidents if any, paint meter ) - a standard expectation even if you selling for first time on PCAR -

I really appreciate the sellers effort, it’s a beautiful car and presented beautifully. However, lack of engagement and important information requirements would concern me to bid as it maybe a sign of what is to come.

Good luck to others with the audition if they decide to take the risk, hope it works for both sides.

@ooeclipse- I think your questions and concerns are valid. Communication between buyer and seller is a key component. Based on a past auction, I can advise you if you are the winning bidder, you will be expected to pay the buyers commission regardless the outcome of the transaction...if the deal closes or not. It seems like the seller may be hinting that they will allow you to do a post sale inspection, but if that inspection reveals a problem and for some reason you do not buy the car, you will still be on the hook for the 5k.

  • ooeclipse (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

I appreciate the candor, and understand that you have other things going on at the moment, but my assumption would be that this car is listed to sell...hence addressing the comments and questions would facilitate the end goal assuming the car is a properly sorted true 14k mile car.

This being an auction doesn't really permit purchase (or bidding) with the caveat of pending ppi after auction close. I really hate when buyers ask for unreasonable things of the seller at the 11th hour of an auction. That is why I asked for these items last week to provide you plenty of time to comply.

At this point, I have to ask if everything is functional on the car...gauges, windows, sunroof, radio, etc. Any non-working items?

Any evidence of previous accident? I'm to assume this car has a respray, but paint meter readings are still desired.

Since your shop did the compression test they should be able to visually verify factory turbos or replacement ones as well?

Any further information that could be provided before auction close would facilitate the "bid with confidence" sentiment.

    Thank you

@ooeclipse sorry for any kind of delay this is the first time we’ve used PC market, I called a couple people to try to find out some of the information you requested I haven’t heard back from them we are currently moving into our new facility we’re trying to do the best we can you’re more than welcome to have a PPI done on the car we’re doing the best we can possibly do at the moment.

  • ooeclipse (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@blackhorsegarage Look back through the comments, last week I requested these items and you responded that you would provide them. Unfortunate it has taken this long and still no paint meters. Compression looks ok, somewhat disappointed leakdown wasnt performed.

You also said you would look into whether this car has factory LSD and no response there?

  • JJ.Porsche (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@blackhorsegarage thank you John, what about paint meter readings - we know very little about the body and paint condition : paint meter readings would be important.

    Thanks - Joe

  • blackhorsegarage (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@ooeclipse maybe I missed something but the first time I was asked for a compression test was 23 hours ago sorry for the delay but it’s not just a 10-minute procedure.

  • blackhorsegarage (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@JJ.Porsche Sorry guys we are very busy facility we had to pull the guys off a job to do the compression results were at Derek Jeter’s charity golf event and I am in the clubhouse emailing you the results now thank you For you patients.

  • JJ.Porsche (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@ooeclipse 1000% in agreement here, unclear as to what is taking so long. Hope we see it with only 4 hours left on the clock!

  • ooeclipse (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Bid was placed to show that I am a serious buyer, not just someone giving a hard time in comments.

That being said seller has had a week to produce paint meter, leakdown, and compression test results. Seller even stated yesterday they are working on it. Not sure how long it takes to get paint meters, but pretty sure a week is enough time for requested items.

Is seller ever going to produce these items? If not, does that mean there is something to hide?

Makes me Leary of this car and seller of this non responsiveness continues as the auction ends.

Hard to allow this beautiful car to bring all the money without this information being presented.

  • Herm911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Do you have the paint meter readings? Are there any marks interior or exterior not showing in pictures clearly? Is there a car fax showing ownership anywhere listed, I may have missed it. Great car. Thank you

  • blackhorsegarage (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@JJ.Porsche We have the guys working on it now.
    Best,
    John

  • ooeclipse (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

additional question, seems the factory clock has been replaced with a VDO boost gauge. Between the changed boost gauge, possibly greater than 1 bar of boost under load from the video, and aftermarket intercooler...can you verify of the turbos on the car are original or replacements and if the wastegates have been modified?

  • JJ.Porsche (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@blackhorsegarage thank you! What a great video and gorgeous car!! Hope it goes to an awesome home, anxious to see compression and leak down tests!!

    Thanks again!

@ooeclipse we can get you compression and leakdown readings, we don't see any oil leaks or and will check for seepage while doing the compression test. I'll do my best to see if the car was equipped with factory LSD.
    Best,
    Johnny

Sienna Metallic is a Paint-To-Sample on a 1978 930. It wasn't an available factory color.
    Even better......

  • ooeclipse (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Do you have paint meter readings and leakdown and compression tests?

    Any oil leaks or seepage?
