Up for auction is this 1978 Porsche 911SC sunroof coupe finished in Chiffon White over a black interior. Reported to have spent its life in California prior to the current owner's purchase in New Mexico in 2009, this 911SC coupe has been kept in excellent driver-grade condition with proper routine maintenance. The sound system has also been upgraded and the car was completely repainted within the last 5 years. It is now being offered for auction with just over 282k miles showing on the odometer, of which less than 20k are said to have been added under the current ownership.
This 911SC is said to have been repainted in Chiffon White about 5 years ago, and the original color of the car is believed to have been Guards Red. The paint is said to be in good condition overall with some minor cosmetic imperfections as depicted in the photo gallery. The windshield gasket is also recommended for replacement. This SC highlights a factory sunroof, custom bumper-bellow deletes, aftermarket LED lighting, a front valence oil cooler vent, and rolled front fenders to accommodate the 7”x 9” Euromeister wheels dressed in BFGoodrich tires.
The black interior is reported to be in good shape and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly except for the rear window defroster. Air conditioning was not equipped from the factory. Modifications include a hidden air/fuel ratio gauge in the ashtray, power-operated front seats, a rear seat delete, MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, and an upgraded sound system with a JVC head unit, an amplifier, subwoofers, and additional speakers.
This 911SC is powered by an air-cooled 3.0 L flat-six engine that sends 180 HP stock to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. Routine maintenance has been kept up to date by the current owner including oil services, valve adjustments, and replacements of various parts as needed. An engine-out service was also performed recently in 2020 which included new fuel lines. The suspension has been slightly lowered, the smog pump has been removed, and an upgraded Carrera oil cooler has been installed with a thermostat and fan. A collection of maintenance records is included, and the seller reports this 911 to be in great running order, although the parking brake is said to hold loosely.
This sale will include owner's manuals, service records, a spare tire, car cover, and a clean title. For a passionate driver looking to get behind the wheel of a classic air-cooled 911, this 1978 SC is not to be overlooked.

@scot8888 thanks for that, does indeed like a great driver
@Wingsandwheels , no documentation like receipts. But I do have a hand written note from the previous owner stating overhaul at 190,000 miles in approx 2003. New rings, bearings, valves, along with transmission first and second gear synchros. Runs great, good driver.
History on the engine? Documented rebuild or top end?
Thanks for looking, Please let me know if you have any questions.
