Marking the debut of the Porsche 911SC, the "Super Carrera" succeeded the previous 911 and Carrera models, featuring the Carrera's wider body and a 3.0-liter flat-six engine. This first-year 911SC Targa has been refinished in white over black upholstery and is now available for auction by its seller in New Jersey, showing approximately 292k kilometers (~182k miles) on the odometer.
This 911SC underwent a refinish in white upon the seller’s acquisition. Equipment includes a silver Targa band, a removable black roof panel, chrome headlight rings, a front chin spoiler, and 15” Fuchs wheels with Continental ExtremeContact tires. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The black interior has been upgraded with leather Recaro-style bucket seats and a MOMO steering wheel. Other equipment includes VDO instrumentation, a heater, roll-up windows, and an aftermarket Sony Drive-S radio.
An air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine produces up to 180 HP, delivered to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. The seller notes that the engine was rebuilt before their ownership. Upon their acquisition, the head studs were upgraded and new seals and gaskets were installed. Service documentation is said to accompany the sale.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is an amazing car to drive that has a ton of power. It drives and looks awesome. Ready to be driven anywhere fully serviced and ready to go.”

Invoice is being uploaded now for work done. $5600 spent. I am told retail this is an easy 8-9k job. The paint job was $6500. Again the internals of this motor according to Francesco all looked replaced and “new”. He said the work done was expensive work done properly. His English isn’t the best just quoting him!
Non oil fed regular tensioner
He doesn’t recall if it was oil fed. Cylinders he said were new, chain looked new both having been recently replaced. All seals all gaskets are new including valve cover and head gaskets. He said by looking at timing chain cover he can tell if oil fed or hydraulic. I’m getting a photo to him.
I apologize. I have been on a flight that did not have the Wi-Fi I was promised :-)
Regarding physical records I only have the bill for what we did which was replacement of all head studs and the gaskets associated with that job. While done Francesco called me and said the inside of this motor had been redone with all of the right work. I just tried calling him but he’s in Italy so I can’t tell you the answer at moment about an oil fed tensioner.
Regarding an accident, none I know of. When the car came in some panels were faded so I went ahead and did a full paint job.
I wouldn’t classify this as a concours level car. It’s a great looking, incredible driving car though that’s for sure! People are bidding on a great looking SC that’s ready to be enjoyed. When I gave it to Francesco I told him to do whatever was needed. Before this motor he did a full rebuild of motor and trans on a 6k ‘87 turbo I had just got for my collection. I just texted him and hope to hear back before auction ends.

What is available for history on this car? How far bak do the maintenance records go?
A lot of questions unanswered ? 2 hrs to go. Can we get them answered. Rusty bolts. Chain Tensioner , Oil Fed Tensioner. Front End Damage. People just want to know what their getting into before bidding. Thanks. Ps. I am one of those people.
Bid in the amount of $3,500
Were all of the head studs replaced or only the broken studs? The pictures of the motor show the chain cover nuts corroded and rusted.
Has this car been in an accident? The front right pictures inside the trunk show what appears to be a significant repair patched area.
Welcome all to the final day of the auction. Without a doubt one of the best driving examples you will find anywhere. Motor was removed and rebuilt prior to our acquisition and then we just had the head bolts done. It's an absolute blast to drive. Classic styling and the type of performance/driving experience that no new car comes close to offering. If anyone has any last day questions please let me know.

@Racerray2000 I do not, only those shown in the photos
Do you have the original seats?
Bid in the amount of $1,250
@jng1984 the motor was out about 3 months ago. This was due to hearing the headbolts. Francesco of Evandrotech who is well known for his work on Porsches is who did the work. When he took the motor apart he called me and said wow, someone did a ton of work recently and he couldnt understand why they didnt do the bolts. The motor runs as new. I will ask him on monday about oil fed tensioners. This car runs and drives incredibly!
when the engine was out, the PO opted not to install oil fed tensioners? is there any record of upgraded tensioners - stomski / collars?
Bid in the amount of $1,000
Euro spec cars didn’t have side blinkers till ‘81 model year I think.
Why is the colour listed as ‘black’ when it appears to be white?
