Up for auction is this 1978 Porsche 911SC Targa finished in Black over a black interior with pinstripe velour upholstery. Representing the inaugural model year for the 911SC, this 1978 Targa is believed to have spent most of its life in Arizona before moving to New Jersey and eventually being acquired by the current owner in Pennsylvania. It features desirable factory Sport Seats along with a 5-speed manual transmission paired with an air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine. This first-year 911SC Targa is now being offered for auction accompanied by a toolkit, spare tire, and a clean title
This 911SC is finished in Black with a matching black Targa band. The seller reports the car to have been previously refinished and some imperfections are noted on the hood along with a bubble spot under the rear window, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. The 16" Fuchs wheels feature black painted centers, polished outer lips, and are currently dressed in Yokohama A520 tires.
Inside, the black interior features pinstripe velour upholstery and desirable factory Sport Seats. The cabin is described as highly original except for an aftermarket radio and speakers. The seats have been professionally reupholstered along with the Targa top. Both the A/C and speedometer are currently inoperable, and the true mileage remains unknown.
Mounted in the rear of this 911SC is an air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine that sends as much as 180 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 911SC came standard with a brake booster for decreased pedal effort as well as front and rear anti-roll bars. Limited service information is available, although the seller confirms a new battery to have been recently installed. The car is said to run, shift, and brake smoothly, and there are no outstanding mechanical issues reported at this time.

@Roma yes the chain tensioners have been done. I just checked on this. :-)
@Roma its a little surface bubble that can easily be addressed. My friend has a body shop and can fix reasonably prior to pickup. That's really all I can find in terms of rust.

I recently sold my 1980 SC, but miss it and am looking for another. I learned that common issues that require attention are updated chain tensioner, and pop off valve in the air box. Can you say if these have been addressed?
