Topping the model range upon its debut, the Alfa Romeo Sport Sedan was a part of the Alfetta series which represented a significant departure from Alfa Romeo’s tradition with a unique design where the transmission and differential were integrated into a single unit located at the rear of the car. This design contributed to a near 50/50 weight distribution between the front and rear axles, allowing for engaging driving dynamics and spirited performance. Finished in Bianco over a burgundy leather interior, this 1979 example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

The Sport Sedan offers an elegant yet sport-oriented appearance through sharp lines which define the grille, hood, and fender contours, as well as a gently sloped roof line for an aerodynamic stance. This example comes finished in Bianco (008) and equipment includes black and chrome-finished trim, quad circular headlamps, integrated front air intakes, a central Alfa Romeo crested grille, a driver’s side rearview mirror, rear side markers, and Sport Sedan badges. It rides on 15” aftermarket wheels dressed in Kumho tires from 2018 with approximately 85% tread remaining, and the seller adds that the factory wheels will accompany the sale. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin presents burgundy leather upholstery contrasted with a black dashboard and polished wood veneers. Equipment includes bucket-style front seats, a 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted turn signals, an air conditioning system, and an AM/FM stereo. The seller notes some signs of wear, and all gauges, electronics, and accessories are working properly.

The Sport Sedan derives power from a 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine producing approximately 120 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The transmission and differential are housed at the rear of the car for optimal weight distribution, as used on the Alfetta 158/159 Grand Prix cars. The seller adds that routine service has been carried out under their ownership, and there are currently no outstanding maintenance items.

This sale will include a clean title, a toolkit, and a set of factory wheels.

The seller would like you to know: “This all original Alfetta is in amazing survivor condition. And it's a blast to drive.”

Hi @beefy65 do you have records to back up that mileage claim?

  • beefy65 (seller) 8 months, 2 weeksago

@UpstateSC So there is absolutely zero rust on this vehicle anywhere. I know it’s hard to believe, 1979 with no rust, but true and the other thing hard to believe is that yes indeed, the mileage has not turned over. That is the original miles therefore theres not many service records. The car is unreal. A time capsule. As you see in the driving videos the car tracks straight as an arrow. On rails. The catalytic converter was removed for a little more umph because if you know anything about these American spec cars they were a bit anemic. This is probably the lowest mike rust free alfetta sedan around anywhere. Feel free to come and inspect for yourself if you ste in the hood. Thanks

How far back do you have documented service history? Ownership history? There appears to be at least some surface rust on the underbody pics, although it is hard for me to tell on my screen. Any other areas of corrosion/rust? I assume the 5-digit odometer has turned over?
    Thanks - nice, clean Alfa!
