Up for auction is this 1979 Ford F-350 Ranger XLT finished in Candy Apple Red and Wimbledon White. Marking the final year of the 6th generation Ford F-Series pickup, this 1979 F-350 was among the top-tier models available at the time, configured with the Ranger XLT trim package, Crew Cab, two-tone paint, dual fuel tanks, power steering, and a host of optional accessories. This example was produced four days ahead of schedule at the Ontario Truck Plant on January 5th, 1979, equipped with a 460ci V8 engine paired with a C-6 automatic transmission. Recently restored and with approximately 100 miles driven since, this rare F-350 Ranger XLT is being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
This F-350 Crew Cab has been refinished in its factory-specified two-tone color combination of Candy Apple Red with Contrasting Wimbledon White on the roof and sides. Factory-optioned equipment includes a chrome rear step bumper, roof clearance lights, tinted glass, and bright low-mount western mirrors. The Ranger XLT trim package also adds chrome bodyside trim, chrome bumpers, and chrome moldings throughout the exterior. The 16" wheels come dressed in Winda WA80+ tires.
The cabin was completely stripped and refinished during the restoration before it was fitted with new carpets and brown leather upholstery. Woodgrain trim comes with the Ranger XLT package, and a new retro-style radio has been installed in the dashboard. Air conditioning was equipped from the factory and the seller notes the system needs to be recharged. A new odometer was installed during the restoration.
This Ford is equipped with a 460ci V8 engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a 3.73 Dana 70 conventional rear axle, power steering, dual fuel tanks, stabilizer bars, and super cooling radiator. The engine, transmission, and power steering system are said to have been serviced during the restoration.
