First introduced in 1960, the International Scout was designed as a competitor of the Jeep in the emerging 4x4 recreational vehicle market. The Scout II Terra was released in 1976 in a half-cab configuration with an extended wheelbase, a fiberglass Terra top, and a 6’ bed. This 1979 example was purchased new in 1978 and kept in the same family until 1996, when it was sold. In 2008, this Scout was reacquired by the original owner’s son, and treated to a complete restoration in 2013, including a repaint in the factory color of Lexington Blue, installation of a replacement 345ci V8 engine, rebuilt Dana 44 front and rear axles, a rebuilt Dana 20 transfer case, fitment of a Rough Country 4” lift kit, restored wheels with 33” BFGoodrich 33” all-terrain tires, Chrysler PT Cruiser cloth seats for the interior, and more. Showing just under 3180 miles on the odometer since the restoration was completed, though the true mileage is unknown, this restored 1976 International Scout II Terra is now being offered at auction by the seller based out of Pennsylvania.

The exterior was stripped to bare metal and refinished in the factory shade of Lexington Blue (15262) with optional white side striping during the 2013 restoration. The removable fiberglass Terra top has been sprayed with white bedliner and the 6’ bed with Lexington Blue-tinted bedliner. Equipment includes front and rear chrome bumpers, LED headlights, an aftermarket roll-bar bedlined in black with top light mounts, a bed-mounted full-sized spare, a tow hitch receiver, a Scout SSII-style back front grill, and chrome mirrors. Detailed images of the vehicle, as well as photos taken during the restoration, are provided in the gallery. The original 15” Scout wheels have been refinished in white, and are mounted with 33” BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain tires, including the full-size bed-mounted 5th wheel.

The interior of this Scout II Terra was also bedlined in Lexington Blue, with the exception of the factory steel door panels which are bedlined in black. Chrysler PT Cruiser cloth seats have been mounted on the factory seat rails, and new safety belts have been installed in the factory mounting points. The seller reports the speedometer has been replaced, and the factory oil pressure gauge is inoperable, an aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge has been fitted under the dash and can easily be removed. A period correct Sanyo cassette unit has been fitted though it does not work, connected to two Polk Audio speakers installed in the factory Terra top mounting points.

This Scout is powered by a replacement 345ci V8 with a factory spread bore intake and a new Edelbrock 1406 carburetor, a Champion 3-row aluminum radiator, Lokar throttle linkage, and a low-profile air filter. The engine was resealed and a rebuilt oil pump was installed. The rear or all four wheels are driven by a 4-speed Borg-Warner T19 Wide gearbox, which has been rebuilt and fitted with a new clutch, and a rebuilt Dana 20 dual-range transfer case. The front and rear axles are equipped with Dana 44 differentials, which have also been rebuilt. Other work includes an upgrade of the factory power steering rag joint to a Borgeson joint, installation of a hi-torque starter motor, RPT motor mounts and transmission mounts, a straight steer brace, a 4” Rough Country lift kit with 5” shackles, 1” polyurethane body mounts and bushings, a polypropylene factory-style 19-gallon gas tank, and a dual exhaust with Walker Sound FX mufflers.

This sale will include a clean title, a full-sized spare, and some service documentation.
