We are pleased to offer this 1979 Porsche 911SC Targa finished in Burgundy over a black interior.  Originally designated for the European market, this 1979 Targa came factory equipped with a less restricted engine than its U.S. counterpart and features a 5-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels.  Treated to comprehensive service over the past several years including a full engine rebuild in 2017, this classic air-cooled Targa shows approximately 132k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This 911SC has been refinished in the current Burgundy color from its factory specified shade of Oak Green Metallic (265).  A Turbo-style front spoiler is equipped along with chrome headlight rings, black trim and lettering, European-spec bumperettes, and fog lights mounted below the front bumper.  The factory 15” Fuchs wheels come with colored Porsche crests and a set of Ohtsu all-season tires dated from 2019-2020.  Some minor imperfections are depicted including some paint chips as well as a scratch on the passenger-side mirror cover, additional images are provided in the gallery.

The black partial leather interior includes manually adjustable seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, and an aftermarket radio paired with upgraded speakers in the doors and rear shelf.  The front seats have been reupholstered and the seller reports the dashboard to have been kept in great condition.  Service in December of 2021 includes recharge of the A/C system along with a new compressor and evaporator.

The European-spec 3.0L flat-six engine produced up to 180 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque, an increase of 20 lb.-ft of torque compared to the U.S. market version.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission.  An engine rebuild was completed in September of 2017 at a cost of over $18k including a new piston/ring set, main bearings, remanufactured cylinder heads, new head studs, updated chain tensioners, new fuel injectors, spark plugs, a clutch kit, and oil lines. The brake booster and axles were also rebuilt during this time along with the installation of new parking brake cables and rear wheels bearings.  The idle valve was replaced in 2018 at the same time as a gearbox service.  Corresponding invoices are provided for reference in the galley.

This sale will include service records and a clean title. Fortified with a rebuilt engine, this 911SC makes a perfect choice for any driver looking to get behind the wheel of an air-cooled 911 Targa.

    Many thanks, Seller.

@tomneedles Hi again Tom, there is no green visible around the engine bay area.
You can only find some green shadows if you remove the trunk carpets and looks deep inside the cowl area, that's all I can se

Thanks, Seller. Also, I assume that’s original green paint under the carpet in trunk. Can it be found elsewhere on the car?

@tomneedles Hello Tom, you are right, heater hoses are missing. Being a Florida car I'm assuming the hoses were taken off at some point since heater is not used a lot down here.
But this is only my guess since we got the car with the hoses missing already

  • tomneedles (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Seller, could you please comment on picture #49 about whether the heater ducts are missing?

  • MiamiGarageClub (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@RK Good morning RK, up this point I never took the rear wheels out to check the stamped codes on the wheels, I'll do my best to do it before the auctions ends

  • MiamiGarageClub (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Roma Good morning, there is no visible rust anywhere all around the car, not even in the undercarriage.

  • RK (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

What are the date codes and listed sizes noted on the rear of the wheels? Fuch's will have them stamped on rear of wheel.

  • Roma (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Would the Seller please comment on any rust? THX

@tonyagc Hi Tony, unfortunately the record do not show the mileage at the time the engine rebuilt was done.
To our knowledge, the car never had a whale tail and there is no holes visible in the inner side of the engine lid.
The car does not have a catalytic converter TMU.

  • tonyagc (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Hi...What was the mileage at the time of the engine rebuild, I can't seem to find it on the receipts posted? Also, did this car have a whale tail originally, it seems the 911SC badging is low on the deck lid as it would be if the car had a whale tail? Does the car come with a catalytic converter?

@Harry500 Hello Harry, the records for the car come from 2014 up this date and there is no documents on the bodywork, so we don't know for sure when it was done.
About the suspension, there is documents showing the rear wheel bearings, cv joints and break work work done in 2017.

  • Harry500 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

    Hello Miami Garage Club,
Please could you tell me when the car was last resprayed and the bodywork worked on? Also, has the suspension been updated recently?

  • MiamiGarageClub (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

Good morning everyone, we'll be here during the auction to answer any question and help as much as possible. Good luck all!!
