The 1979 Porsche 911SC up for auction has been modified with inspiration taken from the 930 Turbo. The car started as an actual sunroof delete SC, making for a great base to build upon. Today the car shows 41K miles on the odometer and the seller states is in very good driver quality condition. The selling dealer purchased the car with no service history or records of ownership but did inspect and service the car upon its purchase.
This SC received a professional re-spray in its original color of Guards Red. The seller states that the paint is in exceptional condition regardless of its age and mileage. The vehicle is said to be structurally solid with consistent gaps and straight body lines. Photos in the gallery show the slight damage to the rear driver’s side bumperette.
The 930 Turbo inspirational look was achieved by using some key turbo design elements. Turbo chip guards, tea tray spoiler, red accent brake calipers, factory upgraded H4 headlights, Carrera front valance/spoiler w/ integrated fog lights, and euro tail light lenses. 17” Factory Fuch style wheels were installed and are wearing brand-new Sumitomo tires. As a result, the car has a great stance and look.
The original partial black leather interior is in above average condition, showing that this SC was well maintained. Only slight warping on the passenger side door pocket and chipping on the upgraded silver gauge bezels are noted. A few upgrades include a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, supplemental voltage gauge, and upgraded head unit.
Power comes from a 3.0-liter flat-six that is paired to a smooth 5-speed manual gearbox. MSD ignition, upgraded headers and a custom dual head exhaust were installed to enhance reliability and performance. Mechanically, the car is said to be in good running order with the exception of a 2nd to 3rd gear synchronization issue. The following service items were recently addressed:
