We are pleased to introduce this tastefully executed 1979 Porsche 911 SC Outlaw-Style finished in Silver Metallic over a custom upholstered houndstooth and black leather interior.  Purchased several years ago as a standard SC model, this 1979 example has been lightly outfitted with top of the line upgrades and custom modifications transforming it into a completely bespoke, one-of-a kind 911 Outlaw.  Offering up classic styling and enhanced all-around performance, this unique 911 Outlaw build is now being offered for auction in excellent driving condition showing approximately 46k original miles on the odometer.

This 911 is stated to have been professionally refinished in its factory original color of Silver Metallic during the early 2000’s.  The seller confirms the exterior finish to be in excellent condition with some minor signs of road going wear (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  Custom modifications include upgraded H1 headlights, a painted center rear reflector, a custom louvered decklid with long hood Porsche badging and clear front turn signal lenses.  The factory front fog lights have also been deleted along with the rear bumperettes in order to make for a more streamlined look.  This Outlaw rides on a set of OEM black Fuchs wheels which come dressed in 2017 dated Bridgestone Potenza tires.

Inside, the cabin has been redesigned and custom fitted with black leather and distinctive houndstooth upholstery.  Noteworthy modifications include a custom MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, square weave carpeting, a custom Ebony 917 style shift knob, Rennline perforated floor pedals and custom RS style door cards with leather pull straps.  A complete Griffith’s A/C system upgrade has also been installed along with a RetroSound Bluetooth enabled radio with charging port.  Factory options include a power operated sunroof, power windows, a center console, an electric antenna and electric mirrors.  The seller confirms all gauges, electrical components and accessories to be working properly.

This 911 is powered by its factory air-cooled 3.0 liter flat-six engine which sends 180 HP to the rear wheels by way of a number’s matching 5-speed manual transmission with a Wevo short shifter.  Performance modifications include turbo valve covers, turbo tie rods, the Carrera chain tensioner upgrade, Optima Battery kit and an SSI exhaust upgrade with M&K dual exit muffler.  The suspension has also been adjusted to European ride height and the fender lips have been rolled accordingly.  Reported to be up to date on all scheduled service, this Outlaw remains in excellent, ready-to-drive condition.

The sale of this 911 SC will include one key, a collection of service records dating back to 1983, the original tools, original decklid, Dansk single out sport muffler, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  A truly well thought out and tastefully appointed build, this 911 Outlaw makes the perfect choice for an air-cooled enthusiast in search of something totally unique.

I purchased this car from Classic Car Showcase in 2017. I had every intention of backdating this car, but because of its pristine condition I elected to move towards a tasteful outlaw build. I have spent the past 4 years and $30k in upgrades to get the car where it is right now, my interpretation of a completely upgraded SC, with design cues from GProgramm and Magnus Walker builds. Thanks for the interest and GLWA.

@2fdktr what was the final weight when they corner balanced it? Do you have a picture of the scale with the corner weights?

    Thanks

@2a_ron_ Last year Bill Driscoll at Precision Motion in Floyd VA rebuilt the WUR, placed the turbo tie rods, set the ride height and corner balanced the car. He went through the car thoroughly and found no issues. Car runs great, pulls hard, and is a pleasure to drive on our twisty mountain roads.

Looks like so much fun. The steeting wheel, shift know, SEATS... awesome interior!

  • 911TSG (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

What is a possibility of coming over and viewing/driving the car. Can we go offline and set this up?

  • 2a_ron_ (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

I see the Carrera tensioner upgrade, but how are the head studs?
I think head studs are probably the most common issue with the 911sc

@jadamk Classic 9 leather shop in Michigan reupholstered the seats and fabricated the square weave carpet kit and floor mats. Install of seats, carpet, door panels, and Retrosound radio with Bluetooth was completed by Kings Upholstery in Roanoke VA.

Rims and tires are turbo setup 16x7 with 205/55 in the front and 16x9 with 245/45 in the rear. With rolled lips there is no rubbing/clearance issues. 16x9 rears were VERY difficult to come by.

Beautiful car. Lots of very nice touches. GLWA.

  • 2fdktr (seller) 4 yearsago

@2a_ron_ thanks for your interest. The original center reflector was in poor condition when I purchased the vehicle in 2017, that is when I painted it, taking inspiration from the gProgramm cars. I have no access to a lift right now due to the pandemic, but the floor pan and car are completely rust free. There is a small area where the paint is bubbling in the driver side windshield rain channel. I will include a pic of that along with the oil guage later today. Thanks again for the kind words!

  • 2a_ron_ (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

This has to be the most tasteful modded SC I've ever seen!
I can see the original decklid included but what about original reflector?
Also, any rust spots or paint crack? Can we see engine oil pressure and undercarriage photos?
Sorry I'm asking so many questions and thanks in advance!
