This 1979 Porsche 911SC Coupe was originally purchased from Porsche Audi of Manhattan and spent time in the lower Hudson Valley of New York. The vehicle eventually found its way to the Boston area and then into central New York with the same owner before it was acquired by the seller in September of 2007. Finished in Grand Prix White and factory-configured without a sunroof, this 911SC benefits from consistent service over the years as well as several worthwhile improvements including Carrera chain tensioners, Turbo valve covers, and Turbo tie rods. Showing approximately 121k miles on the odometer, this ideal air-cooled driver’s car is now being offered for auction by its longtime owner out of Ohio.
This slicktop 911SC Coupe comes finished in Grand Prix White and features factory 16” Fuchs wheels, upgraded H4 headlights, and a front valence with fog lights and a Turbo chin spoiler. There are several small chips noted as well as some missing anodizing on the aluminum window moldings and missing paint on the inner drip rails. An invoice from 2005 documents refinishing of the front bumper, valence, fenders, and hood as well as repair and repainting of the rear valence. The factory 16” Fuchs wheels come dressed in Bridgestone Potenza S-02 N3 tires dated from 2007 in the rear and 2021 in the front. An additional set of aftermarket 17” AT Italia wheels with Bridgestone tires is also said to accompany the sale.
The black interior features a white headliner and aftermarket Alpine stereo head unit with replacement speakers. Some discoloration is noted towards the rear of the headliner and the seller describes the cabin to be in very good condition otherwise showing regular patina. The heat and A/C have been unused for many years and some associated parts have been removed from the car, although they will be provided to the next owner. All other gauges and accessories are said to be working properly including the odometer which was repaired by Palo Alto Speedometer in March of 2022 after it failed earlier in 2018. The owner reports approximately 300-500 miles were added during the interim as documented in corresponding notes.
The air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine has been fortified with upgraded Carrera chain tensioners, Turbo valve covers, and an airbox pop-off valve. As much as 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. Other upgrades include Turbo tie-rods and refurbished front brake calipers sourced from a 1983 model. Some routine maintenance records are available from the early 2000s as well as service history dating from the owner’s purchase in 2007. Items addressed since this time include replacement of the alternator, voltage regulator, drivetrain mounts, shift linkage bushings, window switches, cold start regulator, and completion of a wheel alignment. Some minor seepage is noted from oil hoses in the engine bay and the seller reports some accompanying service records to show the incorrect VIN number resulting from an error by the mechanic.
This sale will include a clean title, records, additional wheels, some original parts, and the original owner's manuals.

@targahawk I don’t know for sure about the options but for the early model years of the SC’s there were fairly limited options, 15 I believe, and what we can see is: leather seats, power windows, Forged alloys wheels, Fog lights, power antenna, Front spoiler, sport shocks. Not noticed: digital cassette player, sunroof, black headliner, head lamp washers, LSD, automatic temp control (?), cruise, luggage rack. Cheers!
@Another911 thank you for your interest, it really is a great car! The tensioners were done prior to our ownership but the oil lines that feed them are readily visible on one side and match whats on my other SC that I personally did the upgrade in.

Does the owners manual include the original maintenance booklet that would show its original options sticker? It seems the sticker is gone from underneath the hood, has that been refinished?

@kunklerobb Hi there! Appreciate your questions and agree this is a very nice SC. I have two - one that my Dad and I built for the track with a fire breathing 3.0L normally aspirated engine with a bunch of go fast goodies and had it at a car show this am, looks amazing from about 10 feet but up close is battleworn in a good way. This white no sunroof coupe is significantly and by a wide margin better condition inside and out. I was attempting to be overly scrutinizing of the vehicle but even the comment about a few stone chips - most will be hard pressed to find them.
Now to your questions: it includes original complete tool kit and the inside of the leatherette fabric part of the liner looks like it had an oil spill on it, it does include the spare tire and wheel in the correct place, it has a jack but not the original one from the car but it is an original type oe jack. My track SC made it to about 186K before the top end and clutch had been done. On this white one, definitively since our ownership began in 2007 neither had been done, and the receipts from the prior owner didn’t indicate that either. The engine is really strong and smooth, and the clutch engagement/action seems great, no slippage at all under any condition.
The car is titled to my Dad in NY. I moved the car here with me in OH in May of ‘21 and moved my Dad here with me in Dec of ‘21. Just never retitled the car in OH.
@pmannion24 thank you for your bids! There isn't any floor board rust, rock solid chassis and no bubbling of the paint. I’m not a concours judge or participant (with any of my p-cars) but this car shows really really well. Hi, very nice SC. Was wondering if the service records from previous owners and yourself if there is evidence of a clutch replacement or top end overhaul on the engine. With 120k miles, you would expect that both had been done, but could you tell us definitively?
Also, are there any photos of underneath carpet in trunk and gas tank area - is there a spare wheel/tire? Tool kit?
As well as any photos of the pan for any rust issues there?
