Said to have remained in California up until 2019, this 1979 Porsche 911SC Coupe underwent a sympathetic overhaul with RS-style modifications and its original Light Blue Metallic paint color. It features custom-finished wheels, lightweight RS trim, leather Rally GT seats, lowered suspension, and a 915 manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. It had been under the care of a PCA member in Kentucky for the past 3 years and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This Coupe wears its factory-specified color of Light Blue Metallic (301) and rides on a set of Fuchs wheels in a custom RS-style finish, sized 16”x7” in front and 16”x8” in the rear. A set of new Nankang tires was mounted in 2021 and the seller describes some paint chips and signs of road-going wear on the front end. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior was redone by Coach Craft of Kentucky in 2021 with new RS-style carpeting, door panels, and Rally GT seats in black leather from Classic Touring Seats of San Francisco.  The air-conditioning and radio have been removed, and a three-spoke 930 Turbo steering wheel has been fitted. The original seats, steering wheel, and door panels will accompany the sale.

An air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine drives the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed 915 manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential.  The car was lowered and aligned to European specifications by Foreign Affairs Autowerks in 2020 including the installation of new shocks and struts, sway bar bushings and end links, heat exchangers, exhaust, and oil cooler lines. A corresponding invoice is provided in the gallery.

This sale will include the original interior pieces, owner’s manuals, service records, and a clean title. The original California emissions smog equipment has been removed and is not included.

@2mAn He purchased the car from Makellos Classic Porsches in Escondido CA who stated at that time 'rebuilt engine' is what he just told me.

  • 2mAn (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@gdj911 Do you know what the history of the engine is?

@JmanTX We have no documentation on the history of the car or the engine, except what the previous owner (who is also commenting here as Gdj911) told us. Maybe he can chime in too.
We purchased the car from him several weeks ago. We are a dealer in Costa Mesa, CA and specialize in early 911's. See Carparcusa.com
We will service the car upon delivery to the buyer for no additional cost.
    Cheers.

Hi. Nice sc. can u please take a pic of the bottom of the engine. Ie center line of the case and where the heads are as well and the return tubes. I’d like to see where or if there’s any oil leaks.
    Thank you

I also noticed some white smoke coming out of the exhaust on throttle and did not see any service history of the engine and wanted to see if you could provide additional information on on maintenance on the engine and any idea of actual mileage?

Is this a dealer or personal sale, just trying to understand the ownership history of the car?

  • carparcusa (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@JmanTX I just saw that now too, please note they are 15" original Fuchs wheels, NOT 16"
    Thanks for your observation.

  • JmanTX (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

Just zoomed in on wheels/tires and they show 15", but verbiage in ad shows - "Fuchs wheels in a custom RS-style finish, sized 16”x7” in front and 16”x8” in the rear".

  • carparcusa (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

Three driving video's are in process to be added to the listing.

Please note, as already mentioned briefly in the description, ALL the removed original interior parts are included in this sale, like original seats, rear seats, door panels, door pockets, steering wheel etc, all in good condition. (not the old exhaust system though).

  • carparcusa (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@Bruce914 The exhaust system is modified with a new set of stainless steel SSI's with 38mm ports and sport stainless muffler.

  • carparcusa (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@sadedon No welding or cutting was done to modify this car, the body is factory, also never been in an accident.

  • carparcusa (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@racemor The previous owner wanted to make the car as light as possible, hence the AC removal, it's all removed except for two brackets on the engine.
The car has no running issues, no oil leaking, no starting issues and no smoking, except the normal little blue puff when cold and been sitting for a while.
Speaking of the previous owner, he chimed in with a comment here on this listing, his screen name is gdj911 and feel free to ask him questions too.
The car runs and drives spectacular, well balanced and nice power, not your regular SC!

“… lowered and aligned to European specifications” how easily would it be to un-lower? Is it just replacing components or was there welding/cutting involved?

  • Bruce914 (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

Good looking car - besides the CAT what else was removed for smog in Ca?

  • gdj911 1 year, 9 monthsago

hey, i'm the previous owner of this 79. we set this car up with rs interior, rs wheels, tires, suspension upgrades and exhaust.
the car is very quick and light compared to spec sc's (approx. 2400 pds). it handles really well and is a blast to drive on the curves. this car is strong and really loves to run...

  • carparcusa (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@vertexauto Yes, video being uploaded today.
    Thanks.

  • racemor (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

I see the invoice says "completely remove", but are the lines, ventilation fans and controls still in place? I assume not, but curious. Any history of work on the motor? Leaks/smoke/any running/starting issues? Would like to see some underside and trunk without carpet images if possible.

  • VertexAuto (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

Nice SC! Would love to see a cold start and drive video. Thanks!
