Finished in Copper Brown Metallic over a Black interior, this 1979 Porsche 911SC Targa underwent an engine rebuild in 2015 at 190k miles before the seller’s purchase the following year. It features upgraded oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, an airbox popoff valve, MSD ignition, Turbo tie rods, a Rennline Exact shift coupler, a Rennline steering column bearing, a wood-trimmed Personal steering wheel, a high-output alternator, a Classic Retrofit blade-type fuse panel, Ächtung Kraft aluminum bullet mirrors, satin black 16” Fuchs wheels, and a Power Acoustik touchscreen head unit. Recently serviced and fitted with a new clutch cable, this 911SC Targa is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Georgia with approximately 232k miles showing on the odometer.
The exterior is finished in Copper Brown Metallic with a black Targa bar, a removable roof panel, and a wraparound glass rear window. Equipment includes body-colored headlamp rings, front fog lights, a Turbo-style front spoiler, aftermarket Ächtung Kraft aluminum bullet mirrors, and satin black-painted 16” Fuchs alloy wheels. The seller notes some areas of the car have been refinished, including the right rear quarter panel and passenger door sill to address rust, and the front bumper and lower front valence to repair cosmetic damage. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The black interior has been customized with a three-spoke wood-trimmed Personal steering wheel, Targa-embroidered backrests, coco floor mats, a dashboard cover, aluminum gauge bezels, an aluminum ignition lock surround, and drilled aluminum door handles. Other accessories include power windows, a heater, analog VDO gauges, a quartz clock, and a touchscreen Power Acoustik head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seller notes signs of wear on the dashboard and inner Targa bar.
Factory-rated at 180 HP and 175 lb-ft of torque, the air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller states the engine was rebuilt in 2015 at 190k miles and has been fitted with oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, an airbox popoff valve, MSD ignition, and a high-output alternator. Other modifications include Turbo tie rods, a Rennline Exact shift coupler, a Rennline steering column bearing, and a Classic Retrofit blade-type fuse panel. The seller notes annual oil changes have been performed during their ownership, and the valves were checked at 10k-mile intervals. A service was completed in March 2025, which included the installation of a new clutch cable. The seller states that the driver’s side exhaust valve cover was trued to correct warping at the last service, and some minor oil leaks were identified at that time.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I have loved this car since I bought it. I bought it because it wasn’t perfect, so I wouldn’t feel bad about driving and enjoying it. I have made many great memories in this car, and I hope whoever purchases it will continue to love it and make many more memories. The toolkit is not original, but it does include the Porsche spark plug removal tool and spanner wrench for the fan.”

Hey guys. I am removing the reserve. We are close enough to what I was thinking. The car is getting sold today!
@pumpe the damage was isolated to the lower valance, front bumper paint was gouged, and drivers side fog lamp broke. All have been replaced. I did not have the alignment checked but it tracks true.
Bid in the amount of $30,250
I might have missed the information. Did you perform a wheel alignment after the damage to the front right? Is the car going straight without touching the steering wheel and is the wheel level?
Thank you
Turn signals, hazard signals, glove box light, cabin light all work.
@the-racers power windows, lights, vents, cabin fans, and heat work. The A/C compressor was removed prior to me buying the car.
Does everything work? Power windows, heat, AC, lights, turn signals, etc?

@Wgarcia13 I have the old flag mirrors. I do not have the original steering wheel. The Personal steering wheel was installed before I bought the car. That’s not rust. At some point something chipped the paint in that area and that’s a touch up. I’ll get a better picture for you.
Hello. Do you have the original steering wheel and mirrors? Can you provide a better picture of the area of the front passenger wing near the head light? Is this rust?

@garyly yes I can. I’ll post a picture shortly.
@jlow911 Can you add pics of the dash without the dash cover in place?
Bid in the amount of $6,000
@ellbartto it does seep oil. I’ve not had to add oil between oil changes. When checking the oil throughout the year I’ve not noticed much of a drop on the dipstick. Maybe from full to 3/4. After the valves were checked in February, it did leak quite a bit causing me to add more oil. The leak came from one of the valve covers on the drivers side. The shop honed it and it’s been reduced to an occasional drip.

Hello, I noticed some oil leakage underneath and understand this happens with those models. But can you advise about the amount of oil or any identified source?
I took better pictures of the engine rebuild part orders. The clutch was replaced at that time as well.

Yep any receipts for the rebuild at 190k would be great to see! Thanks!
Thank you for stopping by the auction. I am looking forward to answering questions you may have.
Happy bidding!
@Funracer Sure. I’ll take a cold start video today. What I have from the rebuild are the part order receipts from dealership I bought it from. They show that they bought rocker arms, rod bearing sets, main bearing sets, gasket sets, ect. I have 27 pages of part orders of things they purchased and installed in the car.
In your Start video the engine temp indicates engine already warmed up. Can you include a cold start video? This would be first start after sitting overnight and the temp gauge at the very bottom.
Any paperwork from the engine rebuild?
Thanks
