Up for auction is this 1979 Porsche 924 finished in Guard’s Red over a brown leather interior.  Equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission mated to a 2.0 L inline 4-cylinder engine, the 924 was introduced as Porsche’s original front-engine sports car.  This 1979 example is said to remain in excellent overall condition with a comprehensive full service and inspection performed in November of 2019.  Showing approximately 27k miles on the odometer, this well-maintained Porsche 924 is ready to begin its journey with a new owner.

Reported to have been fully repainted under previous ownership, the exterior finish is said to remain in fantastic condition while displaying minimal signs of wear.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  Distinctive features include pop-up headlights, a large glass rear hatch and factory 14” black finished wheels which are currently dressed in an older set of Michelin tires.

The brown interior is said to be in excellent condition with a protective cover placed over the dashboard that shows only one area of slight warping.  Factory features include power mirrors and a Blaupunkt radio.  The cabin is noted to be highly original with the only modification being an attractive gauge on the center console.  The seller confirms all gauges electrical components and accessories to be fully functional.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 2.0 L inline 4-cylinder engine rated at approximately 125 HP.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a desirable dogleg G31 5-speed manual transmission putting ultimate control in the hands of the driver.  In November of 2019, the current owner had commissioned a full inspection followed by a comprehensive mechanical service at a cost of over $3k.  During this time the following maintenance items were performed.

  • Remove and Replace Engine Oil Pan Gasket
  • Remove, Reseal and Replace Rear Transaxle
  • Remove and Replace Drivers Inner Tie Rod
  • Electrical Diagnostics
  • Remove and Replace Fuel Pump
  • Fluids and Filters Changed

The seller notes that a timing belt service had also been carried in June of 2019.  Having been driven sparingly since the completion of the recent service, this 924 is stated to be in exemplary driving condition.

The sale of this 924 will include the original owner’s manual, two keys, the original stamped warranty book and service records.  Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to own a classic front-engine Porsche.
