This 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe was delivered new in Canada finished in Grand Prix White over a tan leather interior. It had been serviced by the seller since 1994 under the care of its third owner before the seller eventually purchased the car in 2013 and subsequently performed a complete engine rebuild and chassis overhaul. This 930 has been fitted with several engine and suspension upgrades as well as a Wevo shifter, Sachs clutch, front-mounted oil cooler, and custom front spoiler. Showing approximately 173,900 kilometers (108,687 miles), this Turbo is now being offered for auction by its longtime caretaker out of Canada.
This 930 is finished in Grand Prix White and features rear fender Turbo decals, custom dual exit exhaust, and a custom front valence to accommodate the relocated oil cooler. It rides on factory 16” Fuchs wheels dressed in Toyo tires from 2019. The seller states the left rear quarter panel was previously refinished to address a scratch and the rocker covers were repainted in 1997. A small stone damage is noted on the hood as well as a ding on the right rear quarter panel above the wheel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is upholstered in tan leather with optional Sport Seats and features an upgraded Wevo shifter, MOMO three-spoke steering wheel, and new black “Turbo” script floor mats. The original AM/FM radio remains in place and an additional air/fuel ratio gauge has been installed to monitor the engine. Some wear is noted on the driver’s seat bolster and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
A turbocharged and intercooled 3.3-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The engine has been completely rebuilt under the seller’s care including shuffle pins installed by Competition Engineering of Bodfish, California as well as ported heads, new sport cams and springs, new valve guides, head studs, rod bolts, Raceware fasteners, Turbokraft injector blocks, new fuel injectors, all new fuel lines, B&B headers with heater boxes, and a larger turbocharger. The auxiliary air regulator (AAR) and turbo scavenge pump have been rebuilt and the warmup regulator has been made adjustable. The gearbox is paired with a Sachs clutch assembly and a new flywheel from Patrick Motorsports. The front suspension has been rebuilt with Elephant Racing Street rubber bushings and the shock inserts feature a 1mm larger shaft. The rear control arms were fitted with new bushings and the brakes were refreshed with new rotors from Andial along with new Cool Carbon pads. The floating front discs have new brake hats and new front wheel bearings as well as steel braided lines.

@delanodp Thanks for your question. The boost gauge is in psi. the car runs at 13 psi which is .9 bar. one bar is 14.5 psi. The first video of the drive by has the video of the boost starting at 2100 rpm and the last video shows several times the boost at 13 psi but notice the boost responce is very quick . The boost can be lowered to run on lower octane fuel if you were ever unable to get premium but I have always run it on 94 octane. The boost control is in the engine compartment beside the intercooler, see pictures in the gallery.

I was trying to see the video where the car comes on boost at 2100. Hard to see that in the videos. Also, the added boost gauge (where the clock usually goes)... is that driven off the brake servo pressure? The gauge pegs out several times at (above?) 1.5bar of pressure in the videos. Do you have a manual boost control? Where is it located? What is max boost pressure set at?

Hello everyone and welcome to the auction. I'd like to go over some of the highlights of this car to cover the past week. The bypass valve on the intake side has been rebuilt with a steel sleeve to eliminate any leakage in the charge pressure side which is why this engine will start boost at 2100 rpm as seen in the video's in the gallery. It is far more driveable with way less lag as seen in video's . The large front oil cooler is what makes these engines last a very long time as they are both oil and air cooled. The very best clutch and flywheel has been installed and is a joy to drive. All four corners have adjustable suspension which is corner balanced , bump steer corrected, and aligned with all new tires being road force balanced. All parts that were replaced including the original front spoiler can go with the car. A very important upgrade done this year is the all new fuel lines have been replaced. None were leaking however. @MidModMan Thanks for your questions, getting this into the US is very easy. I have to export into the US and you have to Import it from Canada. This is done with a Broker that gets all the paper work done and sent to the border 72 hours prior to bringing the car to the border.
I can have the car transported to the border to meet you and your transport means and once customs looks at the paper work its in. As to the COA I know they no longer do 1979 and older cars with 10 didgit vin numbers but only for the 17 didgit vin numbers . Look on the Pelican and Rennlist forum's for the story.

Hi Terry, The work you have done on your 930 is looks great. I was wondering how difficult It’s to import your 930 to the U.S.and what is exactly is the process. I did so quick research and it doesn’t seem easy or clear to me. It’s the main reason why I’m not actively bidding Also I have seen COA reports on Canadian delivered Porsches so is it something that’s possible to attain for your car?

Welcome to the auction today. I have posted a few more pictures of the records binder with the turbo spec book as well as the two lighted keys. This alternator is fresh update with new bearings and brushes but was already in great shape. There is a picture of the heater system. The am/fm radio and cassette deck are both working perfectly. @shannonandrichardbel Good morning Shannon, 8:00 am here, Just looked through the pictures and found the engine number in pic #206 but the trans number pic I submitted wasn't posted but it is #12 7791656. there are several pictures of the vin pic # 137 . I tried to get a COA
but was told no for the 10 didgit vin numbered cars and only can get for the 17 didgit cars.

Welcome to the auction today. Take a look at picture #154 of the inter cooler bypass. This allows the engine to run for tune ups and maintenance . Cannot be driven with this as boost pressure would lift it off. This tool will go with the car along with any new spare parts I have. Having been garaged for 19 years for the then unknown time period the gas tank was drained and a couple gallons of automatic transmission oil [red in color] was poured in. The the fuel distributor with its lines and injectors was raised up and containers placed under the injectors.Then with the key switched on the red oil was pumped through the entire system to protect it until 2013 when the tank was drained of the oil and fresh gas put in and the flush repeated. The engine started right up and ran great. Done this on other projects as well. If you have any question just ask, Thanks Terry
@shannonandrichardbel Hi Shannon, The turbo is a Garrett TO-4S that was installed in 2013 when the engine was first started and driven only by me since. Date codes on the front tires is May 2017 with between 7 & 8 MM tread left. The rear tires are dated Feb. 2018 with between 6 &7 MM tread left. The drivers seat bolster picture is in the photo's #97 and mentioned in the opening write up as showing some wear for being 43 years old. Also I have the Porsche
Technical Specifications book that covers 78 to 81 Models 911SC and Turbo 3.3 cars.

@shannonandrichardbel Good morning Shannon, thank you for your question. I don't have whats needed for paint thickness reading but if your interested in why the L/R fender was repainted as it says in the opening write up, to address a scratch that was done without removing the Turbo script so it was not a crash repair. When I got the car I removed the wheel and looked inside the fender for dent marks or new undercoating and found none.
The rocker panels were removed in 1997 and repainted and the receipt for that is in the binder I have with all the records from 1988 to 2022 for this car.

Welcome back to the auction. Today, two new videos and 13 pictures have been sent in to add to the listing. I have the service records and purchase receipts from 1988 to 2022. Some of them are as follows: Raceware head studs and rod bolts, hyd. tens. update, B&B exhaust system with heat and new larger turbo, B&B front mount oil cooler, new fuel injectors and fuel lines, Engine case has 10 more anti-shuffle pins installed, New camshafts & valve springs, Front suspension all new with Elephant racing parts, receipts show all the rear suspension parts as well. The alternator has been freshened with new premium bearings and brushes. I didn't know the age of the alternator even though it worked perfectly, but when it was taken apart it was almost new.I photoed the rebuild to show the condition should anyone want to see it. On another note if a US buyer gets the car I can help with the cross border transaction. Thanks Terry
Good morning everyone. In picture #175 the new flywheel has 12 circles around it which shows the flywheel run out with the dial indicator as zero. The new clutch was supplied from Turbokraft and is very smooth with light pedal pressure but will hold 600 ft. lbs torque.
In picture # 201 are all the new fuel lines from Porsche just installed this year. When I seen a youtube video of a 1984 911 getting them done and seeing the old ones snap when bent it was time to replace mine before the fire. This car has a fully adjustable suspension system that has been corner balanced and aligned and with new tires road force balanced, it drives and handles very well. Picture # 202 is the turbocharger return oil filter. In addition to a 100 mesh screen filter next to the turbo drip can, which also adds volume, it is there to filter out small carbon bits that can get into the dry sump tank. This oil is then sent to the engine and has been shown to plug the camshaft spray bars causing cam lobe and rocker arm wear. The engine oil is filtered on the return to the dry sump tank but not from the tank to the engine. Hence the need for a turbocharger oil return filter. If you have any questions please ask them here.

Good morning everyone. Today I will cover pictures #129 and 202. These cars are noted to have issues with fuel pump relay's as the extra pump was to much for one fuse and now the red relay's are not Bosch quality so this car now has separate fuse for each fuel pump and the pump relay's are now the reliable square relay's that feed through the red relay pins. The diode is still in the red relay but the control is now done with the square relay's ,seen in other pictures. I will cover picture #202 the turbo oil filter later today. Thanks,Terry
Good morning everyone. Thanks Erwin for checking in, all is well here. Today I will cover what picture #171 and 172 are. The bypass valve is to bypass the boost during shifts but when they wear they leak which is why it can take 3500-4000 rpm to get boost. I repair these by installing a sleeve with more support for the piston and precision clearance that now starts boost at 2100 rpm. Watch the enclosed video. Also picture #173 is a leak down test with all 6 cyl. the same. I will cover more pictures later. Thanks, Terry
