Up for auction is this 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo finished in Guards Red over a black leather interior. Produced in May of 1979 as chassis no.9309800594, this Turbo was destined for the U.S. market and came optioned with desirable leather Sport Seats, a black headliner, and an electric sunroof. Described to have been very well preserved throughout the years, this classic air-cooled Turbo has been recently serviced, inspected, and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan with just over 60k miles showing on the odometer, accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
This 930 was factory finished in Guards Red and sports wide fenders, black stone guards, and a distinctive Tea Tray rear spoiler. A condition report supplied by the seller notes the finish to be in very good shape throughout, apart from signs of minor stone peppering on the front bumper and hood as well as scuffing on the lower front spoiler. The rear bumper exhibits some paint touchups and chips, and the rear spoiler is believed to have been previously refinished. All the original glass is also said to have been retained with the exception of a replacement windscreen. Detailed images are provided in the gallery. The 16” Fuchs wheels have been refinished and are currently dressed in a set of older Yokohama tires.
The cabin is trimmed in black full leather and features factory leather Sport Seats as well as a black headliner. Additional equipment includes an electric right-side mirror and sunroof. The interior is said to remain largely untouched, save for an aftermarket stereo and speakers. Signs of wear are visible on the driver’s seat bolster and all gauges and accessories are said to be working properly except for the clock. The seller also recommends the A/C system be recharged.
This 930 is equipped with a turbocharged and intercooled 3.3L flat-six engine rated at 264 HP and 291 lb.-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual gearbox. The Certificate of Authenticity can be found in the gallery along with images of the case stampings. Recent service includes a comprehensive inspection, minor wiring repair, and replacements of the windshield washer pump and sprayer check valves, new intercooler seals, and rebuilds of the bypass valve and wastegate. The seller notes that the engine bay appears to be unmolested and that some of the brackets and hardware under the hood show signs of light surface-level corrosion.
This sale will include a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, some service invoices, and a clean title. A well-preserved driver-grade example, this Turbo provides an excellent inlet to the world of vintage Porsche ownership and is just waiting to be cherished and enjoyed by a new caretaker.

Welcome to the auction of our 1979 Turbo. Thank you for the comments and bidding thus far! We will record some video footage of the car today which will include a cold start, driving, and a general tour of the car. In summary, it is an excellent driver quality example that is a real treat to drive- We have personally put about 500 miles on the car cruising Woodward Ave. for Dream Cruise Weekend as well as highway driving to and from appointments. It pulls strong with good linear power, shifts smoothly, with sharp steering, and no odd suspension or brake noises noted.
Digging into the current questions- @TangerineT and @Kidrod Though the paint is very consistent throughout the whole car, It is not all original paint. We will post paint meter readings later today. As far as ownership goes, we purchased the car in late 2020 from a collector/dealer type who owned the car for over 10 years. Unfortunately, that is the extent of our knowledge of the ownership history.

I think it says right in the description there has been paint work. I think it is also clear there has been paint work on the rear, as all of the engine bay decals have been removed.
