It is our pleasure to present this outstanding 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe. Delivered new to Continental Porsche-Audi of Portland, Oregon, this Turbo was ordered in the Paint to Sample shade of Light Yellow over a black leather interior with Sport Seats. It also came optioned with a limited-slip differential, an electric sunroof, an electrically operated right-side mirror, and a black headliner. Having spent much of its life in private collections, this Turbo has been carefully maintained and was treated to a major engine-out service within the last 200 miles at a cost of $18k. This highly original Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing just over 15k miles on the odometer, accompanied by the original books, tools, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
This Turbo came factory finished in the rare Paint to Sample color of Light Yellow (117), a unique nonmetallic shade made popular by the iconic 1973 Carrera RS. The paint remains preserved in excellent original condition, detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the photo gallery. Characteristic features of the 930 include wide fenders, black stone guards, a rubber front air dam, and Tea Tray rear spoiler. The factory 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels are beautifully presented and come dressed in a set of older Yokohama tires.
The cabin is upholstered in black leather with an optional black headliner and manually adjustable Sport Seats. Additional equipment includes an electrically adjustable right-side mirror, an electric sliding sunroof, a boost pressure gauge, air conditioning, automatic heat control, a rear window wiper, power windows, and an original Blaupunkt/Porsche radio. The footwells are lined with black velour floor mats embroidered with yellow Turbo script. The seller notes that the A/C has not been converted to R134 and the functionality of the system has not been tested.
This 930 is equipped with its original turbocharged and intercooled 3.3L flat-six engine rated at 265 HP and 291 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a numbers-matching 4-speed manual gearbox and a factory optioned limited-slip differential. Other factory features include rack and pinion steering, front and rear stabilizer bars, and power-assisted four-wheel vented disc brakes. A major engine-out service was completed by Carrera Car Shop in 2015 at 14,925 miles including a resurfaced flywheel, new clutch, seals, gaskets, engine mounts, ignition components, oil tubes, fuel lines, belts, filters, and A/C hoses. A full metal and magnesium restoration were also carried out during this time and every component of the induction and exhaust system was either restored, refinished, or replated. A corresponding invoice is provided for reference in the photo gallery along with images of the undercarriage and drivetrain stampings.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, toolkit, spare tire, a copy of the original window sticker, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title. @hayesproperties We are not CERTAIN, but the belief is that there were 2 prior owners to the collector from whom we acquired the car. $330.00 for the sport seats. Those were they days huh? And the key pouch is worth the price of admission these days. Very cool car. This car, when driven, will make you feel 50 years younger. Believe me.
@Defender-90 This car was kept in a collection, and to maintain originality, the a/c was kept factory original (r12) and the refrigerant was purposely drained. As it sits, no a/c! I hope that adequately answers the question, but if you'd want to consider a more modern alternative I can explore some possible south FL friendly solutions for you. Thanks!
