We are pleased to present this beautifully executed 1979 Porsche 911 SC Safari tribute finished in a vintage Martini Racing-inspired livery. Based off of a 1979 Porsche 911 SC coupe, this Safari build looks the part with its custom graphics and accessories while offering serious off-road capabilities thanks to its adjustable Elephant Racing coilover suspension, structural reinforcements and an upgraded 3.0 L flat-six motor. This incredible build also showcases an RS-inspired interior, custom bull bars, Cibie off-road lighting and a 100 L fuel tank. With approximately 1200 miles driven since the completion of the project, this 911 Safari car currently resides with its builder in Canada and is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.
This 911 SC was completely disassembled before receiving a full glass-out respray in Grand Prix White. During this time, all new rubber trim and gaskets were installed and the whole undercarriage was cleaned, reinforced and treated with Schutz protective coating. The car was then dressed in custom vinyl Martini Racing graphics which are completely removable. The finish is said to remain in excellent condition, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. Exterior features include custom heavy-duty aluminum front and rear skid plates, custom front and rear bull bars, a fiberglass over steel ducktail rear decklid by Gary Stratton, and fully functional Cibie off-road lighting. The factory 15” Fuchs wheels have been powder coated White and dressed in DMACK rally gravel tires. This sale will also include an additional set of Fuchs wheels paired with 4 new Hakkapeliitta winter tires.
The cabin was stripped down to bare metal and completely resprayed before receiving new RS carpeting. Custom GT Classics rally seats with corduroy inserts were then installed in addition to a 6-point bolt-in roll bar, RS door panels, Schroth 4-point harnesses and a radio delete plate. The air conditioning has also been removed, although heat and ventilation is retained. All other gauges, electrical components and accessories are said to be fully functional.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.0 L flat-six SC motor with Euro pistons and Weber carburetors. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed 915 manual transmission with a newly replaced clutch. The engine has been fully rebuilt and upgraded with backdated SSI heat exchangers, a stainless-steel dual exhaust system and a high clearance “over the top” style oil crossover pipe. The brass oil cooling lines were replaced with cohline rubber, the front oil cooler was caged for protection, a 100 L extended range fuel tank was installed, and the fuel pump was relocated to the smugglers box. An Elephant Racing adjustable coilover suspension has been equipped and paired with Von Shocks inserts. The front struts have also had their spindles lowered for extra clearance. Other suspension upgrades include fully adjustable Tarret sway bars, Elephant racing adjustable 935 swing arms and an aluminum front suspension brace. Structural fortifications include RSR welded-in shock tower bracing and some seam stitching reinforcements in specific areas. New rear brake calipers and rotors from Porsche have been installed, the CV joints and axles were serviced, and the seller confirms this Safari car to be in outstanding driving condition.
The sale of this incredible Safari build will include a set of 2 keys, a file of invoices and build records, additional Fuchs wheels, a spare tire and clear title. @CurtGT3RS obviously ride height makes the biggest difference but the sway bars still make it very stable and you can make the front or rear end as tight our lose as one wants (who doesn't like a little understeer). The ride is firm but not harsh. It still has rubber bushings throughout and rally suspension is softer, so less harsh that mono-balls and sport suspension. Tires would make the biggest difference. The rally tires make it firm since they have heavy armored side walls. So, change tire, lower the suspension and you're better than stock.
As for shipping since 'Covid' times the simplest is a shipper/broker. I just did a car a month ago and it was straight forward. It's originally a US car so easy for you to reimport. One can still do business across the border oneself but it would be prudent to reach out to each sides border to make it easier...heck I'm only 70min from your Oroville border so could be easy ;)
How firm is the suspension? Can you describe the difference of driving it on the street now vs pre-conversion? I live in Seattle, any insight into what it takes to get this across the border?

Car is registered and licensed for the road. It has everything and in working order for the street, just like the rally cars of the period.
