This 1980 Porsche 911SC Coupe underwent a custom backdate RSR-style restoration including wide steel fender flares, a carbon fiber roof, and a 993 3.6-liter Varioram flat-six engine. It features a custom saddle brown leather interior with heated GTS Classics bucket seats and has also been upgraded with Porsche 930 brakes, adjustable coilover suspension, a limited-slip differential, 17” Fikse Fuchs-style wheels, bi-xenon projector headlamps, electric air conditioning, and much more. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2020 and has since spent most of its time on display in a private Porsche collection in the Pacific Northwest. Driven less than 500 miles since the completion of its restoration, this uncompromising RSR-style 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Washington.

This 911SC was completely stripped for its rotisserie restoration which included widened steel fender flares, a long hood nose conversion, and a carbon fiber sunroof-delete roof panel. The body was also fitted with custom backdated bumpers, a through-hood fuel filler, a ducktail rear spoiler, and 935-style mirrors. The car is finished in Midnight Blue single-stage Glasurit paint and is decorated with anodized and ceramic-coated window trim, orange/blue Porsche side stripes, drilled door handles, and custom bi-xenon projector headlights. The front bumper also features custom vent slits which provide airflow to the front-mounted oil cooler. This 911 rides on a set of 9”x17” and 11”x17” Fikse Fuchs RSR-style wheels with extended wheel studs, titanium lug nuts, and Sumitomo HTR Z tires measuring 235/40 in front and 275/40 in the rear. The seller adds that the window trim has been freshly re-anodized and all rubber gaskets are new. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and photos from the restoration process.

The cabin was reupholstered by Autobahn Interiors of San Diego and features beige German square weave carpeting with saddle leather covering the dashboard, door panels, and seat bolsters. The custom GTS Classics bucket seats are heated and include reclining body-colored backrest shells and black leather inserts with decorative brass grommets. Other features include a leather-wrapped 4-point roll bar, a leather-wrapped MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, an aluminum shift knob, custom VDO gauges, power windows, and an electric air conditioning system by Classic Retrofit.

The 3.6-liter flat-six Varioram engine was reportedly borrowed from a 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera with 9k miles. It has been upgraded with a Classic Retrofit 145-amp alternator, tubular exhaust manifolds, an RSR-style muffler, a sport clutch and flywheel, and a front-mounted oil cooler with braided Kevlar lines. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt Type 915 5-speed manual transmission with shortened gear ratios and a ZF limited-slip differential (80%) with Guards internals. The suspension includes adjustable coiliovers, spring plates, and sway bars front and rear. Stopping power comes from 930-spec brakes with 4-piston calipers and cross-drilled rotors.

This sale will include extensive build records and a clean title.

Just one hour left before the auction concludes. With its exceptional quality, I anticipate a swift sale, so I advise you to be prepared and place your bids early. This backdated 911 is one of the most comprehensive I've encountered, and the scarcity of the 993 Varioram motor makes it even more desirable. Recreating a car like this would undoubtedly be a challenging and expensive endeavor.

If this is your first experience purchasing a car online, rest assured that I'm here to guide you through every step of the process. I have extensive expertise in this area and can provide you with complete assistance. Furthermore, I know a wide network of reliable transporters, and I'm more than willing to assist in arranging the shipping of the vehicle as well.

Your satisfaction and confidence throughout this endeavor are my top priorities. Good Luck!
    -Mike

@Mutt The seats are already more cushioned than regular race buckets, but the floor pan is stock, giving you the option to use any factory or race seat you prefer. And these are also heated with controls in the center.

  • Mutt (registered bidder) 8 months, 4 weeksago

I like the look of the seats, can stock seats be installed on these rails for longer trips?

I've been asked a few times about registering the car in California. It's reassuring to know that the car was previously registered in the state, which typically indicates that the registration process should be straightforward.

Moreover, the car is accompanied by the "Duk Tale" black classic plate, which should serve as a cool option.

The inclusion of the RSR Concept branding on the ducktail is a feature that I believe should be present in any build. What particularly captures my attention is the subtle incorporation of this theme into a few other key areas. Whether it's the discreet inclusion within the tachometer or the intricate etching found in the headlights, these refined accents infuse the car with an exceptional personality and charm that undeniably sets it apart.

What truly fascinates me about a backdated build on a pristine G-Body 911 is the flawless functionality of its doors and sound they make.

@LisaG3 The RSR Concept is the awe-inspiring creation of Rick Hartbrodt, a true artisan based in California. The level of dedication and craftsmanship poured into this car is beyond extraordinary, demanding well over 2000+ hours of painstaking work to achieve perfection. Sourcing a pristine SC donor car and securing a low-mileage 993 motor added a considerable investment to this project, but it was undoubtedly worth every penny.

Witnessing this backdate come to life is a testament to his passion and 30+ years of skill he brings. More photos of the build before and after can be found at: www.rsrconcept.com

@DAC1000 I do not have a Dyno sheet but can draw a comparison from personal experience. Having driven both this and a standard 993 C2S recently, I can confidently say that this engine pulls harder and stronger. The ZF limited slip just points the car straight like a rocket when you step on the gas. I am barely cracking open the throttle in the drive video. This car is amazing to drive!

  • Mike101 (seller) 9 monthsago

@the8thbif A plain black dashboard does offer the advantage of being glare-free. When I record my drive videos using the GoPro Max lens, I've noticed that it tends to amplify the glare issue on camera. But the glare isn't as pronounced to the naked eye, whether I'm wearing glasses or not.

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 9 monthsago

Oh man, just what I’ve been dreaming and drooling about water RSR style build great exterior color
I have to agree it would be a blast to drive I’d suggest, and I’m sure the seller has enjoyed it
Also agree with the comments about fuel capacity, if you’re buying a Porsche like this, it’s for the driving experience in my humble opinion not for the length of the drive related to fuel capacity
Also agree that the black dash might fit this car a little better, but that’s just me
    Wow, what a Porsche
    Good luck all

  • Wmcnair (registered bidder) 9 monthsago

@SpartyRob84 in this case probably best thing is to buy yourself a later model 911, 718, Macan or Cayenne with a decent size gas tank to satisfy your gas stops don’t you think? It will be more reliable also. Anyways the people who are actually biding are not me or you!

  • SpartyRob84 (registered bidder) 9 monthsago

@Wmcnair Apparently I care. I’m retired and would use it to visit my kids who live a couple hundred miles away, and I hate excessive fuel stops.

  • Wmcnair (registered bidder) 9 monthsago

@SpartyRob84 who cares!!! That’s gorgeous toy not a daily or travel commuter car to be worried how much gas it’s going to hold!

What is the fuel tank capacity?

  • Mike101 (seller) 9 monthsago

Driving this car has been an absolute delight. While it will be tough to part with, I sincerely hope the next owner experiences the same visceral thrill that I get every time it starts up.

I invite you all to explore the numerous exquisite details that the incredibly talented builder has incorporated into this backdate. From the wheels to the roof and everything in between, the craftsmanship is truly exceptional, evident in the fit and finish throughout every inch of the car. Every little detail has been meticulously thought out and executed, resulting in this astonishing build.

This RSR styled backdate is available for viewing in Seattle, WA. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email, phone, text, or even Facetime if you're located outside the area.

    Thank you, Mike

Light colored dashes do that. I recovered a similar dash in dark color after tiring of Polarized glasses all the time. Not hard.

    A/C work ?

    Thanks

  • the8thbif (registered bidder) 9 monthsago

Beautiful car, tastefully done but that dashboard glare is crushing. Deal with it one of my cars. Polarized sunglasses should be chained to the interior.

Will be watching this one closely
