Finished in Diamond Silver Metallic and factory-equipped with the optional M471 sport suspension package, this 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo is a U.S. market car that was delivered to its first owner in Venice, Italy, through Porsche’s Tourist Delivery Program. It was purchased by the seller in 2020 and modified with an IFC Racing 924 Carrera GT-style body kit. The car also received a custom Bell intercooler, a 924 Turbo S2 intake plenum and manifold, a Norgren variable boost controller, ARP head studs, a cat-delete exhaust, new leather upholstery, a factory wood trim kit, a 944 rear spoiler, 928 Euro side markers, and 16” Fuchs wheels. This modified Carrera GT-style 924 Turbo is now being offered for auction out of Georgia with documentation dating back to the original owner’s purchase.

This 924 Turbo was refinished in its factory color of Diamond Silver Metallic in 2022 and fitted with an IFC Racing 924 Carrera GT-style body kit including fender flares, rocker panels, a hood scoop, and a front bumper cover. A replacement 944 hood was installed, and the driver’s side fender was modified to eliminate the radio antenna. Other modifications include a 944 rear spoiler, 928 Euro side markers, LED H4 headlights, a European-spec rear bumper, and red Carrera GT graphics. The car rides on 16” Fuchs wheels with vintage-style Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires measuring 225/50 in front and 245/45 at the rear. The seller notes the front driving lights are inoperable. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The black interior features a reupholstered leather dashboard and seats with custom deviated stitching. Accessories include factory wood trim on the instrument panel and center console, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, air conditioning, power windows, a sunroof, Porsche-branded floor mats, a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB Bluetooth stereo, and a boost control knob mounted to the right of the steering column. The instrument cluster has been modified with LED lights and Max Tow auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center console for boost pressure and air/fuel ratio readouts. The seller notes the gauge needles jump intermittently.

Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter EA831 inline-four engine paired with a 5-speed G31/01 manual transaxle. A top-end engine overhaul was performed in 2020, and the engine has been upgraded with a Cometic MLS-5 0.086″ head gasket, an ARP head stud kit, a custom Bell intercooler, a Norgren variable boost-control kit, an S2 intake plenum and manifold, and a cat-delete exhaust. The engine has also been serviced with a new water pump, coolant hoses, starter, and sensor bodies. The K26 turbocharger and intake manifold were repaired in September 2024 along with a new alternator, fuel accumulator, accessory belts, and vacuum hoses. The seller notes the exhaust manifold is cracked, and the tailpipe emits a puff of white smoke upon startup.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, original sales documents, service records, a spare tire and inflator, a toolkit, and a clean title.

Gotcha. Bilsteins is what I was looking for!!

I see you are measuring the boost in BAR, so .75 is around 10.5 PSI. Very respectable. And 210 HP is what the factory Carrera GT Turbos made stock (with exactly .74 BAR)!!! So VERY respectable!!! At 1 BAR it would be 14.7 PSI (which should be surviveable with Cometic and ARP Head Studs). My Volvo S60R was 2.5 liters and 15 PSI. It made 300 HP (twin cam 4 valve).

This 2.0 Single Cam 2 valve should make 240ish at 1 BAR. That’s 924GTR territory!!!

Thanks for the answers, and GLWTA!!!

@jetpaul the shocks are original equipment Bilstein. They were replaced at the same time as Sublime did the engine work.

Hey Jetpaul. Car is in Atlanta in my garage at Krog St. slight puff of smoke is a little leak down. No coolant. A little oil burn off. I am running about .75 boost right now. I would t push it past 1.00. It is pushing out around 210 to 225 HP. Shocks were done in 2019. I have a set of cross drilled rotors that I will include with the car. The car is truly exceptional.

Tagged in SC. Auction says ATL. I live in Newnan (30 mins South of ATL). Where is the car located. I’m out flying, and won’t be able to see it or bid today, but I certainly do like it! I owned a 1988 924S (944 in disguise and actually FASTER than a 944 because it was lighter and had a lower C/D!!) and I LOVED it.

    Couple of questions:

    1) “White Puff On Cold Start”, do you think it’s Antifreeze?? Oil should be blue. Coolant is usually white. Is it consuming any coolant?? Not on a short term watch, I mean do you have to “Top It Up” every few days/weeks/month????

    2) How many pounds of boost are you currently running with the adjustable waste gate? How Many pounds of boost is that small impeller K26 Turbo (SAFELY) capable of? With 150 HP “Stock” and your intercooler/exhaust/turbo/waste gate upgrades considered, what would you estimate the HP to be now?

    3) What type of Shocks/Struts were installed in 2020??

    4) Any upgrades to the Rotors/Pads above stock?

Thanks for your time. I’m a Peachstate PCA Member and life long Porsche/BMW fanatic. (4 Porsches so far, and still have a 2018 Cayenne in the family as the wife’s Daily Driver). I hope to see you at a Cars and Coffee, or Down South Dinner Social one day!!

The gauges in the center console are turbo boost and air to fuel mixture. This allows you to monitor all fuel and boost measures to ensure the engine runs at its optimum power

@USCarrera. Pop up lights all operate perfectly. Just have not found a harness for the driving lights in the bumper. The AC compressor has been rebuilt and is running on R134.

  • Caketits (registered bidder) 1 monthago

What are the dash lights that are on in the driving video?

Welcome everyone to the auction of our Carrera GT Tribute. We have paid very close attention to every detail of this build to ensure it was an accurate representation of the original Carrera GT. Every cars and coffee I have attended, people cannot tell whether it is an original one of the 406 units produced for homologation purposes. Happy to answer any question you have about the car and the process we went through to build it.
