@Hkfrombay, aka TonyfromBay, when people hate on you it’s because you have something they want. Certain cars just look better in white.

@hkfrombay - thank you, so 1) YES radiator and engine oil and filter and 2) NO brake flush and NO transmission fluid changes?

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

They were just taken today as promise. Yes, the registration is paid in full like I said. And showed proof I also just posted a picture of the title I changed radiator fluid oil filter there are no leaks. Car runs great.

    @hkfrombay, thanks.

    So, to recap:

    1) Reg fees paid as of today, 5/5! Do you have title in hand in your name? Or post this payment we now wait for the DMV to send a title in your name? Unless you are a car dealer, you can't sell the car w/ the PO's title. How do I know this? I got caught doing this by accident early in my vintage car journey and it was an issue.
    2) you have committed to delivering car w/ passed SMOG!
    3) You did fluids and battery only? So, can you answer please:

    - Oil and filter? Y/N? When and what brand/weight?
    - Brake fluid flushed/changed? Y/N ? What date?
    - Transmission fluid changed? Y/N? What date?
    - New air filter? Y/N?
    - Radiator drained/flushed/re-filled? Y/N? What date? Still not leaking post fix?

Can you also confirm AC blowing cold? Show thermometer at vent? Prior service records not issue.

@GrandNatty the registration fees were $427 and have been paid in full still waiting on stickers because it’s registered to my vacation home. Car was smog last year. Car has no issues and will pass smog , it will be done before someone buys the car. California law. I don’t have anymore service records from what I was given. So as for how long the car has not been serviced I can’t explain that. What I can say is that I personally changed all fluids myself and changed the battery. The car drives fine I didn’t think it needed anything as I’m not a vintage car guy. I bought this car as an impulse buy thinking I’m Scarface lol. And to be honest my wife Is making me sell it otherwise it would stay with me. And I’m sure yall have wives and know how it is to hear them complain. I’m just a normal person who bought a car that I liked and now want to sell it nothing more nothing less I know nothing about what else needs to be done but that all parts are cheap and can be purchased if needed. The car drives great starts right up with no issues I will upload a video today of me driving it. If you have any request please let me know how I can assist you.

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@hkfrombay - I assure you if you list in detail all the things (long or short) you have done since owning the car I will make a fair bid.

Maybe you are new to vintage cars, maybe not, but what was done 15 years ago doesn't really matter as they have to be re-done (to TexasTRex's point - tires from 15 years ago means new tires NOW, and to my point belts and water pumps 15 years ago means new ones NOW).

I am not crapping on the car, I've said nothing bad about it.

Noting the tag on the plate being expired means a risk of 1) fees due in CA and 2) SMOG needs to be passed and there is no certificate saying it's passed. Again, two more thing posting two pieces of paper will bring you more money.

The service from Greg Brown is a big deal (he is the king of 928s). But, as it's 15 years ago, it means a lot less. If you had a 2023/2024 Greg Brown receipt this car would have lots of bids on it.

Help TexasTRex and I help you.

    1) SMOG certificate
    2) current tags or PNO receipt showing no fees due
    3) comprehensive list of what you have done to the car in the last 2 years w/ receipts to back parts if you did the work yourself

With all three, I'll bid. I've already been emailing w/ the owner of 928 international on avails of parts I see needed like the hood pad.

@hkfrombay your responding as though @GrandNatty is trolling you. I think he was just trying to be helpful so you could get the best price possible.

Based on your responses here and on the BAT auction you are either purposefully concealing information or you just don't know what you don't know and don't want to admit it (probably now a combination of both). You haven't changed the tires which have to be at a minimum 15 years old but you drove the car at max speeds. Based on this auction with a reserve and the BAT auction without, I'm guessing you came across this low mileage original 928 and thought it was worth 6 figures, but when the price didn't get there in the BAT auction you thought I'll pay the 5% buyer fee to not lose 5K (or more) but now I think you will do both. There is a difference between a garage queen (with unique characteristics) and a garage find.

I'm not going to waste anymore time here, but I will leave you with a couple of final thoughts: The 928 community is small so you're wasting you time trying to sell on one of these platforms with your current responses, you'll need to find local buyer who doesn't know what they don't know either. And lastly, if you haven't changed the rubber sections of the fuel line you better do it asap if you are going to keep starting the car or you won't have a car to sell (except to COPART).

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@GrandNatty I never refused any service records to anyone if you read it properly you would see that I uploaded all the pictures. I cannot control if someone makes an account and starts bidding. Isn’t that why someone would create an account? Was there a reason why you keep downplaying my vehicle? Are you interested in the vehicle? If not, you might need to go back to BAT and start reading more comments. I cannot control when someone created an account and started bidding. I think that’s the whole purpose of creating an account to start bidding, my vehicle on a platform that didn’t back me up or tried to help me so yes I’m on this platform. Do you have any more questions? I’m here all night.

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@GrandNatty i’m just curious do you come onto everyone’s auction just to criticize it and talk it down seems like you have nothing better to do. This is a great vehicle has all service records from prior owner. I only owned this car for less than a year so yes, I don’t have very many service records. I don’t need to explain myself to someone who’s on here trying to downgrade the vehicle, your constructive criticism isn’t needed. Have a great night.

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@hkfrombay - I just read the whole BAT thread on this car 1) you were asked by multiple people to provide details on your exact service post purchase and you refused there too 2) the car was bought by a bidder who created their profile the same month as the auction, ONLY bid on this car EVER and goosed the bids with a jump of $7,500 in one bid when the bid was at $15,250. All odd. Seller, if a buyer is a non-payer they usually let the seller RELIST quickly and note the buyer did not pay and is banned. Why did you not choose to do that?

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@hkfrombay - because that will be based on backing out a fair bid from book value minus cost to bring to car to 100%. Only way of getting a good handle on that is to know what's been done between last service posted and today. Need a low ball bid to get you to post that? Or would you prefer a higher bid with the full picture? a 15 year service gap w/o detail isn't doing you or the car any favors.

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

    @GrandNatty why don’t you make a bid?

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@hkfrombay - sharing after bidding ends won’t get you the top bids. I am not the only person in this thread asking exactly what you have done since you bought the car. The 2009 receipt is promising but that was 15 years ago

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@TexasTRex I don’t know where the buyer was. BAT did not disclose that with me. If you send me your email I could show you what was discussed between me and BAT. As for the smog check it will pass with flying colors. I will get one Monday morning besides that shouldn’t be a big deal. The car is from the 1980s and smog is totally different for older vehicles than newer vehicles. Car drives amazing and the highest bidder will see that if you want to test drive it fly to California and I will be happy to allow you to drive and inspect the car as you please.

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@GrandNatty thanks for the advice I will share all that needs to be shared to the person who bids on the car or who buys it I have all records for the car since it was bought from day 1.

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@KLarsen the person never paid and BaT didn’t do anything to help me that’s the reason.

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@ hkfrombay - thanks for answering most of the questions. If I worked at the DMV I would know if you had outstanding fees ha ha.

The belt is NOT a good bet at 15 plus years. porsche recommends no more than 5 years miles aside. But it’s a non interference engine so the risk is a lot lower than a 5 liter car.

Can you please make a detailed list of all you did and post receipts for oils and fluids and filters and hoses and gaskets etc.

I promise you, it will bring you a better number in the end the more you say, versus the more you don’t.

  • TexasTRex (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

I basically ask the same questions as @GrandNatty but for some reason they didn't load. After 25 years in storage, saying you changed all fluids is pretty vague. How about a specific list of functions done. Did you pull and clean the gas tank? Flush the fuel and break lines? What about the trans was that included in all fluids changed?

How about a driving video showing the car going through the gears and braking smoothly?

I discovered this car on BAT also, you were the seller then. The buyer was local, did he refuse the car? If so why.

As to the SMOG test I'm not in CA so it doesn't matter to me but is that way the buyer refused to close the transaction.

It looks like a great car in terrific condition, but it is hard to assign what could be its true value when the answers are hidden behind the curtain. Leaving everyone to suspect that it is now a timebomb.

  • KLarsen (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

This was just sold on BAT 2 months ago, any reasons for the quick sale?

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@GrandNatty everything is working needs nothing but a happy home.

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@GrandNatty reg is paid in full and smog will be done before sale. Do you work at the DMV?

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@GrandNatty I changed all fluids car runs great I’ve taking it to max speeds with no issues time belt is fine.

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@hkfrombay - ANY known needs or things not working aside from the dent?

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@hkfrombay - also see expired reg on car. Are there fees due? Also, if you sell the car in CA to a CA buyer it needs a passed SMOG. Does the car pass?

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@hkfrombay - so the car has had ZERO service since 2009 and since you bought it? Or has it had any at all? I don't see any receipts? I'd say "don't drive the car on 15 year old timing belts" but the 4.5 is non interference and it's not a disaster if it breaks. If any post 2009 services, please post receipts w/ dates.

  • hkfrombay (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

@TexasTRex the speedometer was repaired right away look like it took a few months for it to get repaired. In the service record it says that the speedometer was completely removed and repaired and put back so it is the original cluster. I purchased the vehicle from the first owner. The owner passed shortly after (2009)and the vehicle sat in the garage for many years to come. I acquired the vehicle and put several hundred miles on it. I have the service record receipt that show the mileage before the repair during the repair and after the repair and mileage is accurate I have several receipts indicating that. I believe they are in the photos below.

  • TexasTRex (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

Can you shed some additional light on the mileage...speedo repaired in 2009 when mileage was 32K, 15 years later it is 36K. Was the car in storage for a while, any idea how long the speedo was broken before it was repaired, was it actually replaced and started back at zero. How long have you had the car and how many miles have you put on it. Do you have a carfax to show the mileage history? Inquiring mind want to know!
