Up for auction is this 1980 Porsche 928 offered at no reserve!  Making its debut in 1977, the 928 is a grand tourer that combines the power and agility of a sports car with the refinement and comfort of a luxury sedan.  Having been originally sold from RexRoat Porsche Audi in Illinois, this 1980 example was purchased by its current owner from a local classic car enthusiast in Colorado Springs several years ago.  Now showing only 77k miles on the odometer, this 928 is being offered for auction in driver’s grade condition by it's seller in Colorado.

Factory finished in classic Silver Metallic, the exterior of this 928 is stated to be in good condition, bearing minor chips and blemishes.  Some fading is present on the hood and the seller has no knowledge of any paintwork being performed.  Exterior factory options consist of an electric sliding sunroof and heated outside driver's side mirror.  This 928 rides on factory wheels which come wrapped in Radial GT tires.

This 928 is appointed in a lush blue leather interior.  Showing to be in fair condition, this interior displays some wear including minor trim separation, a few worn buttons, sun fading in the rear cargo area and some wear on the front seats.  Factory optioned interior equipment includes automatic climate control, Porsche CR Stereo and an 88amp battery.  The electric sunroof is currently not functioning, and the power windows have intermittent issues, however, all other electronics and accessories are said to be in good working order.

Powering this iconic grand tourer is a hearty front-mounted and water-cooled 4.5L V8 engine rated at about 220HP.  Power is delivered to the rear wheels by way of a smooth shifting automatic transmission.  This car reportedly runs well with some minor oil leaks.  Aside from some recommended brake system maintenance, this 928 is in solid drivable condition and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

The sale of this 928 will include original books and documentation as well as three sets of keys and some recent service records.  With a clear Colorado title this 928 is ready for immediate delivery.  Solid, fully drivable and in mostly original condition this 928 represents a great value as well as an ideal platform for a project car.  Do not miss your chance to own one of the most legendary sport cars of the 1980’s.

This is silly cheap for an original 928 with a little patina and some deferred maintenance. Take care of that and you’ll have a fabulous and reliable classic super car to enjoy!

    Tires pre-2000? Scary!

  • 911TF (seller) 4 years, 6 monthsago

@Dmhager during the recent service is was recommended brakes and rotors be replaced although they currently function as they should and look to me to have plenty of pad life left but it was recommended. The AC was recommended to be serviced as well and works but not very well. The guy I purchased the 928 from said he had done the Timing Belt himself but I have no record of it. Water Pump was replaced at 75,951 and I have a record for that. Also at that time the V belts where replaced. I am not sure where the oil leaks are originating from they are very minor and nothing is leaking on the ground but it show signs of leaking on the undercarriage. The tires are pre-2000 I did not see a date on them.

A few questions: what do the brakes need? Does the AC work? From where are the oil leaks originating? Last TB/WP service? Age of the tires?

This looks like an original and totally unmolested car!
