This 1981 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible is finished in Pearl Yellow over a Yellow leather interior. Sharing its platform with the Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado, the tenth-generation Eldorado debuted in 1979 and set an all-time Eldorado sales record in 1984. This custom Eldorado was built in 1981 by Flordia-based coachbuilder American International Coach Works. It has been lengthened approximately 18” from stock, given a power-retractable soft top roof, wire wheels, custom brightwork, and more. It features Cadillacs variable displacement V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, automatic climate control, power windows, and locks, an AM/FM cassette stereo, power-adjustable front seats, and cruise control. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This Eldorado comes finished in a Pearl Yellow with an off-white power-retractable soft top and was refinished by American International Coach Works in 1981. As part of the customization carried out by  American International Coach Works the front fenders were lengthed approximately 18” while the chassis was modified to accommodate. Additional upgrades include a custom grille and hood ornament, faux fender-mounted spare wheels, a rear continental kit, and wire wheels dressed in Vogue whitewall tires. The finish is said to remain in excellent overall condition along with the chrome brightwork. Detailed images can be found in the gallery.

The cabin is upholstered in yellow tufted leather with matching door and side panels. Contrasting tan carpets line the floors and woodgrain veneer accents the dashboard and door panels. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, power accessories, cruise control, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The seller notes that the cabin remains in excellent overall condition, and confirms that all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional.

Power comes from a fuel-injected 6.0L V8 which came equipped with Cadillac’s MPG Sentinel system, which selectively deactivates pairs of cylinders to increase fuel economy. The rear wheels are driven by way of a column-shifted three-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment on the Eldorado included four-wheel disc brakes and independent front and rear self-leveling suspension. Recent maintenance is said to include fresh fluids, a convertible top service, and a new battery.

This sale will include a clean title.

If you want something like this then buy this car. This is the last year of the cast iron Cadillac V8. This is the V8-6-4 engine. They ran really herky-jerky. Just cut the 3rd gear wire on the Transmission. (i think it was brown) We had to do it for anyone that complained. The computing power at the time wasn't up to the task. This drop-top looks great. Really looks like fun. GL
