Best known as Doc Brown’s time machine in the 1985 film Back to the Future, the DeLorean, or DMC-12, was built between 1981 and 1983 as the sole model produced by the American company. Manufactured in Northern Ireland, the DeLorean was known for its distinctive stainless-steel bodywork and iconic gull-wing doors. This 1981 example was acquired by the seller in early 2021 and was originally optioned with a 5-speed manual transmission and a grey leather interior. Now showing just over 18k miles on the odometer, this DeLorean is being offered at auction by its seller out of Ohio.
The DeLorean was styled by legendary designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and features brushed stainless-steel bodywork laid over fiberglass on a steel frame derived from the Lotus Esprit. Exterior details include gull-wing doors, rear window louvers, black bumper covers, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes some minor scratches and small defects on the painted front and rear fascias as well as some typical warping of the front fascia above the headlights. The stainless-steel panels show some light scratching which can be improved using non-metallic abrasive scrubbers included in the sale. The 14”/15” turbine-style wheels are wrapped in older Landsail tires.
The interior features two bucket seats upholstered in grey Bridge of Weir leather along with a matching dashboard, door panels, center console, and carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, full power accessories, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, intermittent windshield wipers, and an electric rear-window defroster. The seller reports the dashboard, A-pillar covers, and weatherstripping have been replaced, while the seats were reupholstered under prior ownership. The radio powers on but does not get reception and the A/C does not blow cold at this time.
The DeLorean is powered by a mid-mounted 2.85L Peugeot-Renault-Volvo (PRV) V6 equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Up to 130 HP and 153 lb.-ft of torque are delivered to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Recent service included the installation of new brakes, spark plugs, wires, ignition cap and rotor, rubber fuel lines, and a stainless-steel expansion tank.

@Dbok the inner weather seals for the door are brand new. No known damage to the roof box. I have no idea about the front end recall kit. And yes all of the fuel lines were replaced.
Minor stuff but it looks like the weather seals around the doors need to be replaced. Do you happen to know if there is any damage to the roof box or if it would need replacing?

Hello. Were all fuel lines replaced? I believe there are 13. Also, has the front end recall kit been installed? Thanks for your time.
Note to all prospective bidders: I had the air conditioning system serviced. They found a leak and repaired the leak. I then had them service
the system. It was evacuated, retrofitted and charged with R134a refrigerant. The A/C is now working and blowing cold.
