A lifelong Southern California car, this 1981 Porsche 911SC Coupe was acquired by the seller, its second owner, in 2019 and has since undergone extensive upgrades and customizations. It features a Bursch GT3-style exhaust with stainless-steel headers, a WEVO short-throw shifter and solid drivetrain mounts, new brakes with cross-drilled front rotors, Von Shocks strut inserts and rear shocks, Elephant Racing and Tarett Engineering suspension components, Eibach adjustable sway bars, a genuine Clubsport front valence, genuine Porsche Sport Seats with custom Pascha velour inserts, a vintage MOMO steering wheel, German square weave carpeting, and much more. Supported by an extensively documented history of recent service, this custom 911SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with approximately 64k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911SC is finished in Guards Red and has been customized by the current owner with the installation of a genuine Carrera Clubsport front valence and 16”x8” RS Watanabe R-Type rear wheels. The original 16”x7” Fuchs wheels remain fitted up front and the car rides on a set of new Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tires. New H4 headlight surrounds were painted and installed in 2020 along with the Clubsport valence and refinishing of the inner front fender lips. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The brown interior has been redone new a new vinyl headliner, German square-weave carpeting, and a set of genuine Porsche Sport Seats custom-reupholstered in brown leather with Pascha velour inserts. Other modifications include an early 1980s Jackie Stewart signature MOMO steering wheel, a WEVO short-throw shifter and precision shift joint, Coco floor mats, and deletions of the rear seats, A/C, and radio.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine featuring an upgraded Bursch exhaust with 1 ¾” stainless-steel headers and a genuine GT3 muffler. The rear wheels are driven via a 5-speed manual transaxle. Both the engine and transmission are fitted with solid WEVO mounts. New Porsche brake calipers have been paired with stainless-steel hoses, Zimmerman cross-drilled front rotors, and Porterfield R4-S front brake pads. The suspension has also been overhauled with Von Shocks Street Level 2 front strut inserts and rear shocks, Elephant Racing torsions bars and Turbo tie rods, Elephant Racing “QuickChange” adjustable spring plates with PolyBronze bearings and reinforcement plates, Eibach adjustable sway bars with Elephant Racing mounts and bushings, Tarett Engineering adjustable drop links, and a Sleepers Speed Shop custom front strut brace. Hi Im a CA buyer:

Can you explain the smog options?

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@Multimodal surface stuff that is likely from battery acid. We have highlighted in photos for transparency. Repair would be easy for any competent body shop or Porsche shop with structural experience. We could certainly handle this repair post auction. The black block off plate is Rennline cover for ac condenser / fan that was deleted.

There is rust in pictures 120 and 122. How deep is it? There are different color patches of metal in pictures 121 and 124. Are those pieces fixing rust perforation?

  • 911someday (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

Can anyone explain why the microwave popcorn sound in the drive by video?

  • Multimodal (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

    Thanks for the clarification!

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@Multimodal note from current owner in regards to ownership history:

I dug into this at length when originally purchasing the vehicle in 2019 - it’s my understanding that I’m the second owner. I was told that the original owner financed the car through a Texas-based bank when purchasing it, at some point the bank took possession of the title, and later transferred title back to the original owner. So although the title was transferred twice before me, the car remained in possession of the original owner prior to 2019.

  • Multimodal 2 months, 3 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $31,161

  • Multimodal (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

The auction says this is a two owner car. That is not correct… this vehicle was listed on BaT in 2019 and bid to $40k (reserve not met). At that time it was reported to have three owners, which means the current owner would be the fourth.

  • PCARMARKET_MODERATOR 2 months, 3 weeksago

A new video has been added to the listing page.

  • B_WfU (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

What are the potential issues with not having heat other than the obvious of being chilly. I assume this means no defrost but are there any other things to consider?

  • twickes40 (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

I really want to like this car but there are a few concerns for me. Dated leak down numbers, no smog, no heat, and no cold start/driving videos. I'm out. GLWTS

  • TyStav (registered bidder) 2 months, 4 weeksago

@redgard this is not a car we have worked on, just handling the sale. If you would like to make significant changes to the car after winning auction we could discuss facilitating for you.

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 2 months, 4 weeksago

@emblematiq we are selling for local enthusiast. This is not a car we have worked on, just handling sale. I don’t think he has a specific reason for selling. Interests change, life changes etc

  • redgard (registered bidder) 2 months, 4 weeksago

It would be nice to know the direction you were headed with this car. I love to see all the effort put into the suspension.
I expected to see a full cage or at least a half cage on the inside since this seems more like a track / racer then a hotrod! And in my opinion that’s a good thing!

  • Weis9Elfer (registered bidder) 2 months, 4 weeksago

@Workshop5001 @Workshop5001. I already have a deal in the works for a Black Targa. GLWA! This one, I'll be watching closely.

  • emblematiq (registered bidder) 2 months, 4 weeksago

It looks like quite a bit of effort was put into this build. May I ask, how come you're selling after all the customization?
Also, is it possible to get a driving video?

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 2 months, 4 weeksago

@Weis9Elfer start bidding and this could be your future g-body!

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 2 months, 4 weeksago

@Bruce914 correct. Not currently smog compliant.

  • Weis9Elfer (registered bidder) 2 months, 4 weeksago

What a beaut. Love it. My new benchmark for my future G Body!!!

  • Bruce914 (registered bidder) 3 monthsago

Of course all the cool stuff won't pass California smog tests. Nice car.

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 3 monthsago

@Ripstick19 the pair of original 6” fronts will be included if winner of auction would like them. They are in original condition, not matching current grey used on Fuchs /minilite combo

  • Ripstick19 (registered bidder) 3 monthsago

Does a full set of matching wheels come with the car?

  • twickes40 (registered bidder) 3 monthsago

Wow. My bad. I guess I need to get my eyes checked. Haha

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 3 monthsago
