This 1981 Porsche 911SC is a Rest of World (RoW) example which was imported to the U.S. in October of 1985. Finished in Pacific Blue Metallic, this 911SC was extensively upgraded in 2018 with off-road performance modifications paying tribute to Porsche’s illustrious rally racing history. This Safari-style conversion includes a 3.4-liter twin plug engine built by Holberts Porsche with several Andial components, a transmission rebuilt by ECI Motorsports, a host of Elephant Racing suspension upgrades, structural reinforcements, and much more. This uncompromising Safari-style 911SC comes accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity along with a host of records including invoices and documentation from Holbert's Porsche, Andial Racing, Bruce Anderson, Specialty Cars, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania.

This 911SC is said to have been refinished in its factory-specified shade of Pacific Blue Metallic (W7W7) contrasted with gold-finished Carrera script. In creating the Safari theme, the front valances and wheel wells were modified to fit oversized tires, custom steel brush guards were installed, mudflaps were fitted, and Wurth SKS stone guard was applied to the rockers, front and rear valances, and bumper extensions. Suspension work included lowering and reinforcing the front strut spindles, fitting Elephant Racing front and rear sport rubber suspension bushings, Von shocks, and a bump-steer kit. A set of Carrera brakes with cross-drilled rotors have also been installed. Additionally, H4 headlights, hood-mounted Cibie rally lights and yellow-lens Cibie 45 rally lights, and lower front fog lights were installed. It rides on factory 16” Phone Dial wheels mounted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain K02 tires from 2018. The seller notes paint shows normal signs of wear from street and track use. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features blue upholstery and a factory-optioned sunroof. Safari-style modifications include OMP WRC racing seats with five-point harnesses, a black-finished rollbar, a fire extinguisher, RS door panels, and a Tazio 3-spoke suede-wrapped steering wheel with a quick-release hub. The radio compartment has been replaced with a kill switch and additional driving light switches, and the air conditioning system has been removed. The seller adds that all other gauges and accessories are working properly.

In 2004, this example was fitted with an upgraded 1987 3.2-liter RoW engine (#64H06014) that was built to 3.4-liter twin-plug specifications by Holbert’s Porsche in 1991. This build included 10.3:1 compression Mahle 98mm pistons and cylinders, an Andial ported 3.2L intake manifold, ported and flowed cylinder heads, 964 camshafts, and a Bosch Motronic ECU with an Andial twin-plug ignition control unit. The engine is also equipped with a front center-mounted engine oil cooler. The timing chains, rod bearings, main bearings, and piston rings were replaced in 2005 within the last 10,000 miles per the vehicle log provided in the gallery. The original 915 5-speed manual transmission was rebuilt in 1998 by ECI Motorsports of Hockessin, Delaware. A 7:31 ring and pinion setup was added in 2003 and the car’s maintenance log notes that the transmission was refreshed in 2005 by Gary Fairbanks of Norwalk, Connecticut. The seller adds that service items carried out in May 2023 included an oil change, brake fluid flush, an alternator belt replacement, and compression & leak-down tests. This safari-style 911SC coupe is offered on consignment with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a large collection of documentation and service records dating back to 1985, and a clean Pennsylvania title. Included in the documentation are invoices from Holbert’s Porsche for engine build in 1991, documentation from Andial Racing, import documentation from 1985 when the car was imported into the U.S., a letter from Bruce Anderson in regard to suspension setup, cylinder head flow charts (before and after port work), owner maintenance log from April of 1985 thru October of 2016 and invoices from Specialty Cars for Safari conversion.”
