Now up for auction is this 1981 Porsche 911SC Coupe finished in Pacific Blue Metallic over a beige interior.  This classic air-cooled 911 comes equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and is said to have spent its entire life garage-kept.  It was acquired by the current owner in 2012 at 112k miles and has since received an upgraded sport clutch, a custom Bluetooth sound system, refurbished A/C, completely overhauled brakes, and new tires.  It is now being offered for auction by its owner out of New York with approximately 127k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911SC came factory finished in the uncommon shade of Pacific Blue Metallic.  The sunroof is said to have been refurbished under the current ownership along with replacements of the door and window seals.  Minor rear-end cosmetic damage is said to have been previously repaired by an authorized Porsche dealer with all original bodywork retained apart from the plastic center reflector.  Signs of road-going wear are present on the front end, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The factory 16” Fuchs wheels come dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires that were reportedly mounted within the last 5k miles.

Inside, this 911SC highlights a beige interior with a brown dashboard and upper door panels.  The front seats show cracks and wear on the upholstery and the liner of the sunroof panel has begun to sag.  Under the current ownership, over $3k was invested in a custom sound system including an amplifier, Kenwood Bluetooth radio, and Focal speakers. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional including cruise control and the A/C system which was professionally refurbished under the current ownership.

This 911SC carries an air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine the generates approximately 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by a 5-speed manual gearbox.  Service carried out under the current ownership includes the installation of a new sport clutch and rebuilds of the brake calipers along with all new brake pads and rotors.  All other routine maintenance is said to have been carried out as necessary.

This sale will include a set of two keys, the original owner's manuals, toolkit, and air compressor, and a clean title. Sporting a timeless color combination, this 911SC just might be the classic air-cooled 911 you have been searching for.

  • Vintage80 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@MacDougall13 Sorry if not being clear, but on photo 9 it does indeed seems like the rocker panel is bended.
My question about rust was a separate question. There are no photos of the front compartment (corners etc). Trust the seller can tell? Thank you

  • Mrosilio (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

I don't believe any service records show any engine maintenance besides for cleaning up a few oil leaks - Has the engine ever been rebuilt/resealed?
Have the pop off valve & chain tensioner upgrades been done?
Any recent leakdown or compression test?
Any smoke during cold start or idle?
    Hows oil consumption?

    Thanks!

I agree if you're near car photo 9 does look like obvious bend in very front of rocker panel near wheel well.. or its nothing too bad no pics with car on lift could see more.. still thinking about bidding I am serious just used to a bigger more complete presentation like BAT. but very nice color combo

  • andyawb (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@MacDougall13 the leading edge of the lower rocker panel, just behind the front passenger side wheel appears to be bent. Unless it's a funny angle, it is deformed compared to how it is supposed to appear.

  • MacDougall13 (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Vintage80 Not sure what you're talking about on photo 9. There are no rust issues. Many engine upgrads... be happy to provide all service and maintenance records

  • Vintage80 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    Hi Seller.
    - On photo 9 you can tell the rocker panel is bended. Can you describe what happened and if its only the panel that was damaged?
    - Any rust issues to be aware about?
    - Any major service or rebuild to the engine during your ownership?
    Thank you

@SK991.2 No records, however, the guy I purchased it from said the car lived it's first 25 years in South Dakota...I know I thought, I'm not buying a car from there. However, it was garaged kept, never driven in the winter and SD is a dry, arid climate. Guy I bought it from, garage kept on a lift...since I have owned it...only garage kept, very few miles

  • MacDougall13 (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@SK991.2 just uploaded a pic of the paint code and name...located in the engine compartment

  • MacDougall13 (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@kfine sorry for the delay...just uploaded some undercarriage photos. Let me know if these don't suffice

  • SK991.2 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    any records from prior ownership?

  • SK991.2 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Would be helpful to see a COA?
or at least the option codes on the door/under the hood?
    unless I'm not seeing something
    photos of underside the car?

@crsierra believe in '81 that was the year the paint code label was located on the cross member in the engine compartment.

@crsierra Not sure why it's called grey...Original is called pacific blue and that is what was used on the sunroof

  • crsierra (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Thank you for the invoice details. Curious why they reference the car color as "GREY". Has the vehicle been full repainted in a different color? Unfortunately in image #120 the driver side door plate which would contain the factory color code is missing.

  • tkoz (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@MacDougall13 when was the running video taken? The millage that I can see in the video that is uploaded shows 94,436. Any more recent videos?

  • MacDougall13 (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@tkoz Video should be there now. Records being loaded soon

  • MacDougall13 (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@cwags12 Just uploaded the records... all in it was about a $10k job

  • cwags12 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@MacDougall13 can you retake photo #9 ? Asking b/c pic #9 shows the passenger door being considerably darker compared to other panels. Can you confirm whether passenger door is darker or whether it's just the lighting/camera/photo.

Also, can you upload paperwork from Porsche regarding the sunroof repaint ?

  • tkoz (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Any chance we can get a video of the car running? Pictures of the invoices of the work that was performed?

  • MacDougall13 (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Keet I think there might be an error on the carfax. I have all service records with odometer readings. I would be happy to provide. Current mileage is correct (2016 mileage was 125, 747. I have put very little mileage on the car in the last 5 years). Regarding the paint. When I had the sunroof rebuilt, we decided to paint the sunroof ( sunroof metal is different than the rest of the car and was fading badly) so the entire rear up to the quarter panels was professionally paint by an authorized Porsche dealer.

  • MacDougall13 (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@pcbill Yes, just uploaded one. I can provide more if you would like

Hi, the mileage on the car fax dated 2016 from 5 years ago was 128,977. The ad list 127,412. What is the current mileage ? Please advise.

    Thx!!

@dn1 Yes, both seats have small tears in them. The estimate I got was about $1500 to have them restored to factory specs

  • dn1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Hi, are both front seats damaged? Do you know how much new ones are?

  • live2drive_porsche (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Nice color! I noticed slightly different mileage on the last car fax entry and that was 5 years ago. In addition, it appears that the passenger side door has been repainted. Can you supply any additional information?
