Now available for auction is this 1982 Porsche 911SC finished in Platinum Metallic.  This 1982 example features Turbo-style front and rear spoilers along with a two-tone Beige and Brown leather interior with desirable factory Sport Seats.  It has also been upgraded with a Fabspeed exhaust, Carrera chain tensioners, and Turbo valve covers.  It is said to have been under the care of a long-term previous owner in Ohio before it was recently acquired by the seller and treated to several service items and refurbishments including new leather upholstery for the front seats, new axle boots, exhaust gaskets, engine belts, spark plugs, a warmup regulator, tires, and more.  Currently showing just over 164k miles on the odometer, this nicely appointed driver-grade 911SC is being offered for auction by its seller out of California (please note that the car is not available to retail buyers in CA).

This Coupe comes finished in Platinum Metallic along with Turbo-style front and rear spoilers.  Road-going wear is depicted on the front bumper and the seller notes two small dings on the windshield cowl as well as numerous rock chips throughout the exterior that have been touched up, sanded, and polished.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This SC rides on classic 16” Fuchs wheels with brand new Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 tires.

Inside, this 911 features a two-tone Beige and Brown leather interior with factory Sport Seats newly reupholstered in OEM German leather.  Stainless steel pedal covers have been added along with an aftermarket JVC radio.  Some warping is depicted on the upper dashboard toward the bottom of the windshield.  All original R12 AC components remain installed and the compressor appears to spin freely, although the system does not currently blow cold and has not been tested.  The seller confirms all other gauges and accessories to be working properly at this time.

This 911SC carries an air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine factory rated at 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque.  The engine has been upgraded with oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, Turbo valve covers, and a Fabspeed exhaust system providing increased sound and power output.  The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual gearbox.  Within the last three months, over $4k has been invested in service including new spark plugs, accessory belts, a warmup regulator, Lambda control unit, a new oxygen sensor, fuel tank sending unit, exhaust gaskets, axle boots, and an air filter.  A corresponding invoice is provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include some service records and a clean title. Please note that the car is not available to retail buyers in CA. This nicely optioned and tastefully upgraded 911SC makes a fine selection for any driver looking to get behind the wheel of a classic air-cooled Porsche, do not miss out.

@Rockmacho2021 I am not aware of any accident history or paint work, and in my opinion, the car does not appear to have had body repair. The previous owner also indicated that the paint was all original, but I obviously cannot verify that definitively.

  • Rockmacho2021 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Has it ever been in an accident, I know the car-fax doesn't show any. To me it looks as if there is an excessive amount of sealant applied to the corner seams on the front and rear right. Is this typical of the era Porsche?

Owned an '82SC up until a couple years ago. In order to pass CT emissions I needed to remove backdated exhaust system and install a used system with CAT. Car would pass hydrocarbon test without CAT, but would never make it thru the NOX test. Hope this helps.

    @alessio Correct!

  • alessio (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@stuttgartcentral interesting; so essentially you're limited to selling only to licensed dealers in CA, or to an individual if it's registered out of state?

  • stuttgartcentral (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@AlexM As long as you are titling the car in LA, there is no problem. We cannot sell to a retail buyer for individual registration in CA, but we can sell to a licensed dealer in CA.

  • AlexM (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Just want to double-check: if I have CA DL and currently live in LA, I`m not able to buy this car from you? If so, do you offer any workarounds?

@tdskip Availability for CA retail buyers has nothing to do with SMOG. As a CA wholesale dealer, we are not licensed to sell a vehicle directly to a retail consumer.

Again, I am not aware of any reason that the car would not pass, except that it has an aftermarket (Fabspeed) muffler and a straight pipe in place of the catalytic converter. You would likely need to fit a cat in order to pass smog. The aftermarket muffler should be fine for the visual inspection, but I can't be certain about whether or not it would pass the emissions test.

  • tdskip (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Not available to regular buyers in CA scream SMOG issue, is there something that needs to be disclosed here on the emissions system?

  • tdskip 2 years, 8 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $12,999

  • stuttgartcentral (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@mike.l I cannot say with certainty, but I believe it would since the only thing modified is the muffler (replaced with the Fabspeed unit).

Will the car pass Smog in CA?

  • stuttgartcentral (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@kth911T Thank you! I have provided a cold start video as well as a video showing the sunroof functioning properly. I will follow up to see if @PCARMARKET can get them posted ASAP. I'll see if I can get a driving video today or tomorrow as well, but the car runs and drives exactly as it should.

  • kth911T (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Looks like a perfect driver. Any chance we can get a cold start and driving video? Also, any documentation on top end or engine our service? Thanks!

@Rockmacho2021 Thank you! It certainly appears that the hood caused the dings there, but it’s unclear exactly how. We are told this issue existed prior to the most recent owner’s possession, so before 2007. The hood itself is in great shape, though when it is opened, the hinges allow it to make contact with those spots on the cowl.

  • Rockmacho2021 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Super nice car. Did the hood flip back and the ears dent the windshield trim piece?

  • stuttgartcentral (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Welcome, bidders! Thank you for tour interest in my SC Coupe! Please don’t hesitate to keep the questions coming via chat or private message. The car is located in beautiful Napa, CA and available for in person inspections or a PPI at local shops for serious bidders. The car is in great driver condition and ready to drive anywhere on brand new tires and with extensive maintenance performed in preparation for sale.
