Now available for auction is this 1982 Porsche 930 Turbo “Special Wishes” Slant Nose with modifications by RUF. Reported to be one of only 42 Turbo’s commissioned through Porsche’s Special Wishes program for 1982, this European-market 930 is finished in Grand Prix White over Dark Blue leather and features an early preproduction factory Slant Nose configuration. After leaving the assembly line in Stuttgart, this 930 was sent to RUF to receive a 5-speed manual gearbox conversion along with a limited-slip differential, upgraded intercooler, and dual exhaust. Since being imported to the U.S. this Turbo has undergone a major mechanical overhaul at a cost of over $23k. Accompanied by service records dating back to new as well as official documentation from RUF, this incredibly unique Special Wishes 930 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois.
This Turbo is finished in Grand Prix White, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. Thorugh Porsche’s Special Wishes program, this 930 was factory fitted with an early hand-built Slant Nose body conversion including vented Flachbau front fenders, boxed rocker panels, and straked side air intakes. The unique Hammerhead front bumper is also believed to have been installed at the factory per the original owner's special request. This example rides on color-matched 16” Fuchs that come dressed in fresh Yokohama Advan A052 summer tires.
Inside, this Turbo is appointed with Dark Blue leather upholstery, carpeting, and factory power Sport Seats. Modifications include a MOMO Sport steering wheel, a MOMO leather shift knob, and an updated Blaupunkt Laguna CD36 radio. A sworn affidavit from a previous owner is provided in the photo gallery which explains the kilometers to miles conversion as well as the installation of the current RUF speedometer. The car is noted to have had 20,756 miles when it was sold to Willhoit Enterprises on December 19th, 1992.
This 930 is equipped with a turbocharged 3.3L flat-six engine paired with a custom RUF 5-speed manual gearbox and limited-slip differential (60%). A RUF intercooler is equipped and the original invoice from RUF also includes the installation of a dual-exit exhaust system as well as a stiffening brace for the front end. The current Borla exhaust is said to have been installed under previous ownership. Service records have been kept dating back to 1982 and the seller reports the car to have been driven approximately 900 miles per year on average. A major mechanical service was carried out by Perfect Power in 2016 at 32,076 miles which included a full overhaul of the transmission as well as refurbishment of the engine.
This sale will include a collection of service records, official documentation from RUF, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title. With its documented RUF upgrades and rare preproduction Special Wishes Slant Nose configuration, this one-of-a-kind 930 represents an important piece of Porsche's history.
