Sporting a Meteor Grey Metallic finish over black partial leather upholstery, this 1982 Porsche 911SC Coupe has been enhanced with a WEVO shifter and knob as well as SSI heat exchangers and a sport muffler for its air-cooled flat-six engine. The car is supported by service records dating back to 1992 including invoices for a full engine rebuild in 2013 with upgraded Euro-spec pistons and cylinders. Showing approximately 106k miles on the odometer, this 911SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Maine.

This Coupe is finished in Meteor Grey Metallic, a classic Porsche color offered from the early 1980s up until the late 2010s. Equipment includes U.S.-market bumperettes, “sugar scoop” headlights, front fog lights, and an electrically operated sunroof. The brake calipers have been painted red and the car rides on a set of 16” Fuchs wheels dressed in Yokohoma S Drive tires from 2013. A small paint chip is noted on the edge of the left-rear fender as well as other small chips on the hood. The seller adds that the car remained in the New England area since new while never subjected to winter driving conditions. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black interior is appointed with matching leather seats and a three-spoke steering wheel as well as an upgraded WEVO shifter and 917-style wooden gear knob. An aftermarket Rennline dead pedal cover has also been fitted along with black carpet floor mats with red “PORSCHE” embroidery on the driver’s side. The factory sound system is paired with a replacement Pioneer CD radio. The sun visor upholstery has begun to sag, some discoloration is noted on the headliner, and the seller reports the air-conditioning is currently inoperable.  All other accessories are said to be working properly.

The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transaxle paired with an air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine rated at 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque. Associated records show an engine rebuild performed in 2013 at 98,718 miles including new Euro-spec 9.8:1 pistons and cylinders as well as new main, rod, and intermediate shaft bearings, new valve springs, wrist pin bushings, upgraded Canyon Racing head studs, rod nuts/bolts, timing chains/rails, a new clutch and throw out bearing, rocker shaft seals, spark plugs, and distributor cap/rotor. The engine has also been upgraded with stainless steel SSI heat exchangers and a high-flow sport muffler for a more aggressive tone.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, service records, a Maine registration, and a bill of sale.

    The gas fill compartment has some surface corrosion. The spot in the door jamb has a very small hole through one layer of metal but the second layer is good.

    I have service documents dated 2020, 2019, 2017,2014, and earlier that document the mileage. As time went on, the prior owner started doing most of the minor service and I have receipts for all of the parts he purchased such as oil filters, gaskets, etc.

    Seller, are there any other docs that show mileage history other than carfax showing 106 in’21 and invoice showing 98,7 in’13? Carfax only shows one mileage entry???

    The engine of course will have to come out and be taken apart to the point that the cylinder heads are removed. I suspect that the heads would need to be fly cut, reinstalled, torqued properly, and reassembled. I doubt that the head studs are broken since Canyon Racing head studs were installed when it was rebuilt in 2013.

    @twin-grille-roadster thanks for the update. I highly recommend you pull the lower rocker covers on both sides and determine if the headstuds are broken or pulled from the case halves. The sound on the video is a telltale sign of a headstud(s) are broken or improperly torqued. If any on the bottom are loose or broken, remove the top covers and inspect them also. If you are lucky, they were improperly torqued during the rebuild. If they are broken you can repair them in house a reasonable cost. An outside shop will likely begin the quote at 15K. Thanks you for your honesty and integrity by stating the compression numbers. I would love to buy the car, Obviously an expensive engine repair will affect what I am willing to bid on the car. I would like to review the rebuild invoice. I know these engines and parts very well. Thanks again for your transparency regarding the cylinder leaks.

    Thank you all for your questions and I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I have performed a compression test and there is a problem. The test results are #1-150, #2 155, #3 75, #4 145, #5 150, and #6 75. The sound is not the muffler but is blow by from between the cylinder and the cylinder head on cylinders 3 and 6. At the time of the rebuild, the cylinder head studs were replaced with Canyon Racing head studs. Also I was mistaken regarding the muffler as it appears to be a stock muffler and is listed as such on the receipt for the engine rebuild. The sound is due to the blow by. The receipt for the engine rebuild done in 2013 will be posted tomorrow.

    Have the headstuds been verified to be intact? Have the valve covers been off recently? The popping sound under heavy load is worrisome. Does the rebuild invoice indicate headstuds were replaced. Thanks

    @twin-grille-roadster - Thanks for posting your video. Nice to see some of that New England countryside flashing by once again. I'm a bit uncertain about one thing, though. Under harder acceleration, the exhaust note takes on a stronger repetitive tone, almost like a clattering sound, and I'm wondering if that's totally due to the aftermarket exhaust installed? Any signs of a gasket leak around that system? Can you assure us it is not due to some internal parts in the engine itself? I'd guess it's just a characteristic of the "high flow sport muffler" that was installed, but it just sounds a bit odd to me in your video. Overall, very nice-looking SC!

    I see some rust in pics 56 & 79. 56 on the edge of the fender where the filler lid meets it, doesn’t look like a big deal. However 79 looks like a perforation in the tub. Can close-ups be posted? Is that an area of concern?

    I am out of town till late Sunday. I would have to assume that it is not original paint however I can say that if it was repainted it was before 1992. Sorry but I do not have a paint meter. I can upload pictures of the engine rebuild invoice on Monday. I will try to get a compression test and leak down test done as well. A driving video was submitted to PCar Market. I will call them tomorrow and find out why it has not been uploaded.

    Hello and welcome to the auction for this wonderful 911. I am helping a friend sell this fine example of one of Porsche's best version of the classic air cooled 911. I have know this car since 1992. I am happy to honestly answer any questions you may have. Both prior owners of the last 30 years have preferred to drive with the windows and sunroof open so neither has had the air conditioning system investigated. At the very least, it would need a new receiver/dryer and a system evacuation and leak test. By the way a receiver/dryer costs less than $100. Thank you for your interest.
