Representing the final year of the 928 with its original 4.5-liter V8 engine, this 1982 example comes finished in Light Blue Metallic over a blue leather interior and features a 3-speed automatic transaxle sending power to the rear wheels. The car was with its previous caretaker for over 15 years and recently received extensive maintenance including replacement of the battery, fuel pump, water pump, thermostat, timing belt, spark plugs, and much more. Showing just over 41k miles on the odometer, this 928 is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Wisconsin.

This 928 is finished in Light Blue Metallic (Hellblau Metallic) and comes equipped with matching protective side moldings. Other features include pop-up headlamps, integrated front fog lights, a rear window wiper, a sunroof, dual exhaust outlets, and factory 16” Phone Dial aluminum alloy wheels. The seller states a set of new BF Goodrich tires were mounted in 2005 with less than 10k miles driven since. Some imperfections are noted including paint bubbling on the passenger-side front fender. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is upholstered in blue leather with matching carpets and power-operated front seats. Amenities include power accessories, electrically adjustable mirrors, a locking glovebox, “928” logo floor mats, air-conditioning, and a sound system with an aftermarket stereo head unit. Some wear is noted on the driver’s seat and center console, and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

A naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V8 engine delivers up to 231 HP and 265 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 3-speed automatic transaxle. Recent service includes inspection of the radiator as well as replacement of the battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, water pump, timing belt, accessory belts, Bosch spark plugs and wires, ignition coil, distributor cap/rotor, temperature sensor, radiator hoses, thermostat, K&N air filter, and fan clutch.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, toolkit, spare tire, and a clean title.

@928luv No cracks on the dash and the leather is in great shape. Still soft and flexible. Out of cars that I have owned, I have not seen the leather in this great of a shape. Thank you for the question.

Before I up my buddy any higher, are there any cracks in dash or rips in interior? I see the tiny wear mark on driver’s side seat… no biggie… also is leather hard and ready to crack?

@uscarrera No other paint “flaws”, minor scratches as car is 40 years old but nothing major.

  • gmed907 (seller) 1 year, 6 monthsago

@uscarrera Yes, the paint is original. The body is aluminum so I’m sure it’s not rust. It’s been at that same spot for years, has not spread.

  • uscarrera (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

Is the paint original? Is the body flaws limited to paint bubbling above side molding on passenger front fender?
    Thanks

Looks like a lovely example. Love the color and apparent care.

Let me add - my current observations - hopefully, shared by many to those who may be able to effect:

As an active enthusiast/collector, (with room and interest for several more), with the proliferation of on-line auctions - especially with so many now almost always with Reserve some changes are in order:

    1) If reserve an indication of sellers anticipated amount should be standard. Classically many classic provide a range on any item "$25,000-40,000"...but certainly some minimum bid amount that is somewhat relevant to sellers reserve is needed. Otherwise, as is proven 99% of the time, just advertise and allow bids 1/2 hour before conclusion (any bid prior is a waste of everyone's time and resources). In fact. I'll double the present high bid .... its actually basically more reasonable and serious than the system asking for it!!!!!

    2) The auction system that develops this will capture the market, by truly making it an equal and even universal market it promotes in:
Include delivery (say within a month, even to established localized sites) in all sales. Yes, the house will have to maintain a (or more) constant cross-country carrier.

  • gmed907 (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Yes, it is a 4.5L let me get that corrected. Thank you for pointing it out.

  • petza914 (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Just an FYI - you have a typo in your text.... "A naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 engine delivers up to 231 HP and 265 lb.-ft of torque".... since I know you know this is a 4.5L motor. GLWS
