This classic air-cooled 911 is now being offered for auction with just over 136k miles showing on the odometer.

This Coupe is finished in Grand Prix White with body-colored headlight rings, a Turbo-style front spoiler, rectangular front fog lights, and upgraded 17” Fuchs wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller states the full exterior was refinished at some point and notes some cosmetic imperfections as depicted in the photo gallery. The car rides on a set of Sumitomo tires with production date codes from 2019.

The Cadbury Brown interior received a new leather-wrapped dashboard and custom metal handles as well as an upgraded Pioneer stereo. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.

The air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine was rated at 180 HP and features upgraded SSI heat exchangers and B&B stainless steel mufflers. An original stamped dealer service book accompanies the car and the seller states the oil, filter, and air filter have been recently replaced in preparation for sale along with new brake pads, rotors, rebuilt calipers, new shifter bushings, a new alternator fan, shroud strap, alternator belt, and ignition coil.

Looked like a really nice car. Great interior color and condition. Re-spray looked pretty good too. We had an 1983 just like this GP white and Brown. Never should have sold it! Good wishes for the new owner.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Msullyz No. Definitely no stalling. The car was recently tuned by us. It start cold on a dime and it idles steady.

  • Msullyz (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Had the car stalled there at the light? Just curious, I know you mentioned it was still cold.

@Cos270 Yes, it works. The car was cold in the video. I just pulled it out and it had not been started for about 24 hrs.

  • Cos270 1 year, 3 monthsago

Does the oil temp gage work? Looked like it was pretty low during the driving video...

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Gmartel603 - I just submitted a start up and drive video. Boy, this car is fun to drive! In the video I tried to show a few things: Start up, revving, driving relatively hard (about 5,000 RPMs) through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear, down shifting from 3rd to 2nd, and idling at a light. The video should be up shortly.

Last year of the Super Carrera in a beautiful color scheme. Looks to have been well cared for over the last 40 years. Wish I was in the market - this would be a really fun car to own. GLWA.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Last day of the auction on this last year 911 SC. Apologies on the delay on the drive video. Time just didn't permit yesterday but it will be up shortly. Feel free to ask an y last minute questions. I'll try to be available all day to respond as quickly as possible. Good luck to all interested parties. I think this one will be finding a new home today.

@StablesCollection Yes, I had a couple of potential buyers inspect the car yesterday and I was able to confirm that the AC does work and blow cold. The compressor looks to be the original one to the car, so I don't believe that it was been converted to 134. We always give a final charge right before delivery of the car.

  • StablesCollection (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Can you advise if the A/C works & blows cold? Any history of it being converted to 134 or a recent charge?

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Gmartel603 Weather is nice today. I get a drive video going this afternoon. Any excuse to drive this one! I'll also show the sunroof opening and closing. Thanks!

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@snwmble The wheels are 17" Maxilite wheels with Sumitomo tires. The front wheels are 17x7 and have 225/45 ZR17 tires. The rear wheels are 17x8 and have 255/40 ZR17 tires. I see a date stamp of 4219.

  • Gmartel603 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Any chance you’ve shot, or can shoot a driving video?

    Thanks!

  • snwmble (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

can you confirm if the wheels are original Fuch's wheels or replicas? Also wheel size & tires sizes? Thanks!

  • rmw (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

interior very choclatey , cannot decide if thats appetizing

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@mkp81 There are NO silly questions. LOL! Yes, most likely they were removed in preparation for a respray and never got put back. If the winner of the auction likes, I can get a set and put them on prior to delivering the car. Thanks for pointing it out.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Bruce914 I'm not sure. I was not the owner of the car at the time and here in Florida we have not done emissions inspections in over 20 years. I'm assuming that it had something to do with the exhaust set up. It currently has SSI and a SS Muffler with NO catalytic convertor.

  • mkp81 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Maybe a silly question but do you know why the engine bay decals are all missing? I assume from a respray maybe but odd they wouldn't be replaced. Thanks

  • Bruce914 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Why did it fail the emissions inspection so often?

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Porschracer Correct. This car has not had the Carrera chain tensioner upgrade done. If the winner of the auction wants, I can sell them an OEM kit at cost - $650.00.

  • Porschracer (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@mkp81 - my apologies, I see the carfax now!!

  • Porschracer (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Looks nice. It doesn't appear to have Carrera tensioners, can you confirm? Is a Carfax report available? THX

Love the look of this SC. I had an '83 for a short time and wanted 17" fuchs for it but never pulled the trigger. Combined with the white, this thing is sexy!

  • edgy4sure (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

    makes me smile!

my first was a 1980 SC in Chiffon - ran like a top even when I let it go at 178,000 miles

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@pcbill The 2nd part of my last posting was for you. Not sure why it did not tag you.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@LFLocal Thanks again. I’m also very fond of this car. The look is just right and it’s a riot to drive. The exhaust sounds perfect to me. Hard to get on video. BTW The video is up now.
You are right. This car in Chiffon would be out of this world. I sold a Chiffon on black Carrera a few years back on Pcar. I still kick myself for that one.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Somer I don’t have any service records proving that the engine has been out, that the tensioners have been addressed, or that the clutch has ever been serviced. I’m assuming, based on condition and performance, that the engine has been out at some point and that the clutch has been changed at least once before.

We have not done a compression test. We usually only do one if we think there is an issue. If the winner of the auction wants to do a compression test, we can facilitate transport to a preferred local shop or make arrangements with our shop.

The AC blows 911 SC AC cold from what I recall. I’ll test it tomorrow and report back.

Thank you for all the questions.

  • LFLocal (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@seller thanks for clarifying on the odometer exemption. I still can’t get over how great and tasteful this car looks overall inside/out and especially with the 17” fuchs. This is a gem that’s going to make someone very happy. Looking forward to the startup and driving video. Great presentation thus far to the seller.

@LFLocal Thank you for the comments. I agree, the 17” Fuchs look sweet and H4 headlights would be a great upgrade. Not just aesthetically but they really are better lights.

The odometer exemption is something that some states do for cars over 20 years old. They basically don’t require you to report the mileage and just list as exempt. The mileage still gets recorded to Carfax at state inspections and at some repair shops.

I just uploaded a cold start and walk around video. I’m sure @pcarmarket will have it up soon.

  • pcbill (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

    My very favorite interior.
Now; if only the body were Chiffon rather than GP White...
(That, and if I had the kind of money that this beauty is going to end up going for)

  • LFLocal (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

Nice example and the 17” fuchs look great! I can appreciate the originality of the sugar scoop headlights but swapping to euro H4’s would be a welcomed upgrade and really round out the look aesthetically. These 3.0 SC’s are a hoot with the torquey low end and love to be revved out. More enjoyable and visceral of an experience than the 3.2 carrera’s in my opinion. These provide the ultimate aircool analogue experience for the money and will be sought after for generations to come. Can seller explain the “odometer reporting exempt” on the CF? The new shiny Bosch coil is paperweight unfortunately and will be the first thing to go. A cold start and idle video would be great as well. Looking forward to see how this one crosses the line.

    @VertexAuto:
Very nice 911. Great job presenting the car, I especially appreciate your pointing out the very minor imperfections. I’m not in the market unfortunately, but I wanted to congratulate your detailed listing.

Thanks for taking a look at our 1983 911 SC. This white on brown example has benefited from both mechanical upgrades and cosmetic restorations. The car drives very well and pulls exceptionally strong. I'll get a cold start, walkaround, and drive video up in the next few days.

Please feel free to ask questions or request additional photos. Good luck to all. I hope this one finds a great new owner.
