Produced for the 1983 model year only, the 911SC Cabriolet was introduced as Porsche’s first open-top convertible 911. This example comes finished in Guards Red over a black leather interior and features a limited-slip differential, Sport Shocks, Fuchs wheels, and a heated windshield. This example was purchased new at Porsche-Audi of Rockland in New York and has remained single-family-owned until recently being acquired by the selling dealer. Accompanied by extensive service documentation, this meticulously maintained 911SC is now being offered for auction out of New York while showing approximately 39k miles on the odometer.
This 911SC comes finished in the traditional shade of Guards Red and features a black cabriolet top and matching tonneau cover. Details include front fog lights, front and rear impact bumpers, body-colored headlight rings, a chrome fender-mount antenna, and 16” Fuchs wheels wrapped in Kelly Edge HP tires from 2016. Additionally, Euro-spec taillights have also been dealer installed. The seller notes slight sun fading on the plastic trim and some paint imperfections along the front fenders and beneath the hood. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black leather interior features an added Personal Nardi Emerson Fittipaldi steering wheel. Equipment includes a Blaupunkt Monterey radio, power windows, air conditioning, a heated windshield, and a set of black floor mats with Porsche lettering. All gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.
The air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine produces up to 180 HP and drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual 915 transmission. Optional equipment includes a limited-slip differential and Sport Shocks. The seller adds that this vehicle has been meticulously serviced at a select few service centers throughout Connecticut and New York, including Rennwerke of Elmsford, and Rennsport Automotive. The seller also states that a binder of various service history records will accompany the sale.
This sale will include a clean title, sales literature, and extensive documentation.

@JP61 The original tool kit, jack, and collapsible emergency spare tire are all included. I was not able to locate the original air compressor (though even if I was, I wouldn't recommend using it...those belong on eBay for the collectors. I believe they're made by a British company and just white labeled "Porsche" anyways).

It is extremely uncommon to find a 911SC Cab of this mileage and provenance. Driving season is in full force, but if you've been waiting for just the right analog convertible sports car to come along—then perhaps this is the one! And after all, what's more classic for an air-cooled 911SC than Guards Red and a drop top?

@JP61 The car is wearing its original factory paint. To my knowledge, no extensive paintwork has been done to the car either.
I've gone ahead and added paint meter readings to the image gallery at various points of the car. The flatter surfaces (doors, rear deck lid, etc) appear to be a little thinner which to me would indicate more prolonged buffing/polishing on those spots over the years. Let me know if you have any further questions!

@area901 Thanks for catching that. Looks like a clerical error. We have revised the listing to more accurately reflect the car. Additionally, I have uploaded a photo of the original purchase agreement from 1983 (pic 217) which lists all the options/dealer add-ons. Note the dealer marked the vehicle as a 1984MY, despite Porsche dropping the SC moniker for that year. Some cheeky 1980s dealer shenanigans, it seems. ;)

What happened to the sport seats?
I am the current owner of this car. It's being sold for me by a broker I trust. Below is the abbreviated story behind this 1983 911SC Cabriolet...
Every great car has a story, and this one is no different.
After looking at a number of used cars to buy as a fun weekend car (I remember being in a SL190) back in 1983, my parents bought this car brand new in Rockland County, NY.
It was their pride and joy.
Two years later, the divorce came.
My dad moved out and into NYC, so my mom got the house, the car, and me.
I was 16 or so, I and went away to college shortly thereafter (late 1986). By then, my mom had a boyfriend (later husband), and the two of them put the VAST majority of the miles on the 911. There are zero records from this period, although I do know they took great care of the car. I’ve asked my (now 81-year-old) mother for details, but she simply has no memories of what was done to the car.
In 1989, my dad moved to the suburbs, and he re-acquired the car from my mom.
At that time, there were 24k miles on the car.
He drove it just enough to keep it in great condition, and he was religious in servicing it and keeping records.
Fast forward to 2021, he bought a car from his youth (an MGA), and the 911 was passed down to me.
At this point, the Cabrio had about 36k miles, so he averaged under 250 miles driven per year.
I was honored to receive the car, knowing the history behind it, and having it in our family for so long.
But…
The car has been a source of…shall we say…disagreement between my parents after the divorce, so it has some personal, emotional negativity associated with it.
Also, I can’t bring myself to put miles on the Cabrio. It’s too beautiful, too clean.
Accordingly, it just sits in the garage, which breaks my heart. It deserves to be driven, loved, and cared for by a new owner.
Selling it has been a decision that LITERALLY kept me up at night. It took me over a year to pull the trigger, but it's time.
