Produced for the 1983 model year only, the 911SC Cabriolet was the first open-top convertible 911 ever. This example comes finished in Light Bronze Metallic over a Cadbury Brown interior with optional leather Sport Seats. It was acquired by the seller from rural Northern California about one year ago and has since received a full service along with a set of new tires. Showing just under 88k miles on the odometer, this one-year-only 911SC Cabriolet is now being offered for auction out of Arizona.

This 911SC is finished in Light Bronze Metallic and features a new black cabriolet top and matching tonneau cover. Other equipment rectangular front fog lights, impact bumpers, body-colored headlight rings, a chrome fender-mount antenna, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels dressed in new Hankook Ventus V2 tires. The seller describes the paint to have been well preserved while showing some touched-up rock chips and minor signs of road-going wear. A scratch is also noted on the hood and passenger-side fender as well as a small crack in the passenger-side fog light. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Cadbury Brown interior includes optional leather Sport Seats which have been professionally reupholstered in OEM material. A modern Alpine radio has been installed as well as a vintage Clifford alarm system which has been disconnected. The seller reports slight warping around the dashboard vents and notes the A/C compressor is inoperable.

An air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine sends up 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The original maintenance log shows dealer service stamps up until the year 2000 and the seller notes the engine has been upgraded with oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners. A recent service is said to have included repairs of small oil leaks and the replacement of a faulty fuel injector.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, toolkit, spare tire, a car cover, and a clean title.

    @Scott_Ales - ah, I see why you were interested in this one now. The PO lived on a dirt road from new which caked the bottom with dust which also protected it from corrosion. I agree that a dry-ice blast would reveal a newly new looking undercarriage. I have actually been considering buying one of your entry level systems (IC 022 or 030) as I love how effective they are at detailing the hard to reach/clean areas. I need to find a source for the dry ice though before pulling the trigger. Maybe we'll be in touch!

    If anyone else has a really nice, non corroded 911, with any amount of miles, but a unique color, I'm a buyer.
    We need a really dirty underside to Dryce clean for SEMA. Well, half of it! Everyone likes a good 50/50 look.

    As we approach the finish line here I want to reiterate that I am not selling the 911 due to any issues with her. I bought her last year with the intention of keeping her long term with my other Porches which include a 356, 944T, and Boxster. As such I have spent $7k getting her as close to turnkey as possible. But, in February I decided to sell my storage building to invest in a new business so need to reduce my collection by 6 cars which is a surprisingly tough decision to make. I decided to keep the 356 and Boxster. The 911 and 944 are on offer here, I just sold a 3rd gen Camaro on bat yesterday and I have a JDM Mini on CandB and I still have to pick two more to go. I know, I know...nice problem to have right. Regardless, I do appreciate all of the questions, comments, and especially the bidding.

    @war4max - Thanks for your interest. I purchased the SC in May of '22 with 87,852 miles. I have not noticed any issues shifting into any gear...no grinding or clunking noises. It's definitely not as smooth as a G50 transmission, but perfectly adequate. Per the PO, clutch, brakes, and shocks were replaced around ~60k miles. I do not know about the tie-rods, but when I brought the car back to AZ I had my indy shop (Sun Valley Imports) inspect the car and replace whatever was needed (except the A/C) which was mostly oil line related items and one fuel injector. She runs and drives straight and smooth currently so should not need anything for awhile.

    Great looking car. Not a common color combo. A couple quesitons:

    - When did you purchase the car and the mileage?
    - Any issues with the syncros? 2nd gear specifically?
    - Have you changed the clutch, shocks, tie rods during your ownership?

    The final day is here and the 911 is quite upset that it is being upstaged by its 944 stablemate!!! To be fair, both cars are in excellent condition so both deserve plenty of attention. That said, I have spent quite a bit more on the 911 to bring her to be turnkey ready with a new top, new OEM seat leather, and refinished Fuchs. Add to that the Carrera chain tensioner upgrade, new tires, and all the oil leaks repaired, and you can see that this 2-owner beauty deserves more love than the lowly (but awesome) 944.     @usedmachinetoolboy - Thank you. When driven hard in corners you'll feel moderate understeer which is easy to modulate and although 911s are known to snap oversteer on occasion, I have never felt that boundary on an SC. That is one of the blessings of the SCs...plenty of power to be fun and engaging but not enough to test your driving limits. Most enthusiasts would not track a cabriolet so doubt many have experienced oversteer in the SC era of 911.

    @DC911guy - Thank you. Correct on the A/C, is intact but all original from 1983 so would need the compressor rebuilt or replaced. If this was a coupe I probably would have made that effort, but I only drive her October - April and always with the top down so it wasn't worth the effort to me. I appreciate your interest.

    is the AC intact with just an older inop compressor?
    relatively easy to beef up the ac unit especially for us in AZ
