Introduced as the top of Porsche's 928 model line, the “S” version debuted in 1980 featuring a more powerful 4.7-liter V8 engine, uprated brakes, forged-aluminum wheels, aerodynamic spoilers, and premium driver amenities. This 1983 example comes finished in Ruby Red Metallic over a Grey Beige leather interior and is equipped with a rare 5-speed manual transaxle. Showing approximately 63k miles on the odometer, this 928 S was previously owned on the West Coast and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

The 928 S is distinguishable from a standard 928 by its back polyurethane front and rear spoilers as well as its 16” forged aluminum wheels. This example is finished in Ruby Red Metallic, a color offered on 928 models between 1983 and 1984. Equipment includes integrated front fog lights, an electrically operated sunroof, a rear window wiper, popup headlights, headlamp washer nozzles, dual exhaust tips, and tinted windows. The seller notes the car was previously refinished in its original color and there is no evidence of any accidents. Some imperfections are depicted in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Grey Beige leather upholstery including matching carpets and power-adjustable front seats. The driver is provided with automatic climate control, extended rear-seat air-conditioning, cruise control, power windows and mirrors, a locking glovebox, a digital clock, seat position memory, and a sound system paired with an aftermarket Bluetooth radio and upgraded speakers. The seller notes the radio is currently inoperable.

A naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V8 engine distributes up to 234 HP and 263 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle.

The seller would like you to know: “1983 Porsche 928 S. Has a rare color combination of Ruby Red Metallic with a beige interior in excellent condition. The exterior has some very minor imperfections that would be consistent with this model year. The few imperfections are pointed out in the YouTube video below. With just 62,000 miles, it has a nice assortment of power windows, seats, sunroof, and air conditioning, all working. The driver’s side window switch sticks sometimes but does work. Has an aftermarket radio with built-in CD which is installed but not hooked up. Has the standard 4.7-liter V8 engine with 5-speed manual transmission and it runs strong. Very solid body from Arizona. Shifts and runs excellent, a pleasure to drive. A rare car that is going up in value every year after year, especially with the 5-speed manual transmission. Nice factory alloy wheels with good tires not dated.”
