Assembled by De Tomaso in Modena, Italy, and designed by Carrozzeria Ghia's American-born designer Tom Tjaarda, the Pantera debuted at the 1970 New York Motor Show as an exotic mid-engine sports car powered by a Ford Cleveland V8. In 1980, the Pantera model line was updated with a new widebody GT5 variant featuring bonded and riveted fiberglass wheel arch extensions and a revised chassis as well as improved brakes, larger wheels, a more luxurious interior, and an aerodynamic fiberglass bodykit. According to a VIN analysis by the Pantera Owners Club of America (POCA), fewer than 197 Pantera GT5 models were built in total when production concluded in 1985. This 1984 example is finished in red over a beige leather interior and is said to have changed hands between four private collectors in Canada since new. Previously listed on PCARMARKET, this rare Pantera GT5 is being offered for auction once again with approximately 28k kilometers (17k miles) on the odometer.

The Pantera GT5 is based on a revised version of the original Pantera’s chassis and features modified Ghia-designed bodywork with bonded and riveted fiberglass wheel arch extensions as well as a fiberglass aerodynamic bodykit including side skirts and a front air dam. This example is finished in red and features black split bumpers, hood vents, a rear wing, a black roof spoiler, pop-up headlights, quad exhaust tailpipes, and black air scoops behind the windows. It rides on staggered-width 17” Campagnolo-style wheels with faux-knockoff center caps and new Michelin tires. The seller notes that the car has been stored beneath a cover for most of its life and the paint remains in excellent original condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, this Pantera is appointed with beige leather upholstery complemented by burl wood trim spanning the dashboard, door panels, and center console. Accessories include a gated dog-leg pattern shifter, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, three-point seatbelts, power windows, a heater, Veglia Borletti instrumentation, and an aftermarket stereo. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly apart from the pop-up headlamps, however, a replacement headlamp control module is included with the sale.

Power comes from a mid-mounted 351ci (5.8L) Ford Cleveland V8 that delivers up to 350 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed ZF manual transaxle and a 4.22:1 differential. The GT5 equips larger disc brakes than the standard Pantera and accelerates from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5.2 seconds. The seller states that the car has been maintained with annual fluid changes and there are no outstanding service items at this time.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, some documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “An iconic masterpiece presented this week on PCARMARKET. A super rare opportunity to own Pantera GT5 #9295. A wonderful car to add to your eclectic collection. Great mixture thanks to Alex de Tomaso using American designer Tom Tjaarda, a Ford 351 Cleveland powerplant, and assembly in Modena. Sublime design and easy to

New Happy Custodian will have to fine tune it with a Post-storage Service. Nothing Exceptional. Car Starts first Crank: 351cid Cleveland Manual. Brute force. Built Ford Tough! 💪💪

Hi, Alex. Great-looking Pantera. I had a 1972 years ago. What would cause the headlights not to close to conform with the hood? Is that a glitch, or?
