Up for auction is this 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe finished in Black over a black leather interior.  Said to be a numbers matching example, this otherwise stock 911 comes equipped with a dual B&B exhaust system and custom performance chip.  Well documented and ready to be enjoyed, it is now being offered by its current owner out of New Jersey with 78k miles showing on the odometer.

Finished in classic black, the exterior of this vehicle shows very well as can be seen in the photo gallery.  The exterior is free of modifications with the exception of dual exhaust finishers. The original 16” staggered fuchs wheels are mounted and come wrapped in healthy Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires that were added in 2018.

This Carrera is appointed in a black leather interior with all gauges, electronics and accessories reported to be fully functional. The interior retains its stock appearance with the exception of an upgraded Sony head unit. New factory spec sun visors and headliner were added, and the Air conditioning has been converted to R 134. Detailed images of this 911's interior are available in the photo gallery.

This Carrera retains its original 3.2-liter M930/21 flat-six that produces 207HP and 192 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed 915 transmission. An upgraded B&B air filter has been installed along with tasteful B&B dual mufflers and a performance chip from 911 Chips. Some of the notable maintenance items include a clutch replacement and full service in 2010 (documentation included) along with a complete fluid flush this past November.

The sale of this 911 will include two keys, service records, manuals, toolkit, spare and air compressor, and a Porsche. This vehicle is accompanied by a clear title and creates an excellent opportunity at a well-preserved G-Series 911 being offered by a private seller.

@NickW21 Hello NickW21, no I do not have the original air box as it did not come with the car when I purchased it.
However I did get the original muffler from the last owner and it will go with the car.
Yes the car is in outstanding shape, inside and out.
Except for the headliner and sun visors the interior is all original. No cracks in the dash and the seats and doors are 100% Paint is also original with no body work.
No rust anywhere and the trans and engine are dry.
    Thanks.

I met this seller a few months back, stand up guy with a very clean and well maintained collection. GLWTS!

  • NickW21 (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Do you still have the original air box/filter? Car looks to be in good shape!

@toddjude Hey toddjude, I would if I could but I'm not around to do so.
It's up on a lift with a cover on it and the video that's in the post was to be the cold start.
I would like to think that with all of the great photos listed they would replace any type of walk around.
    Thanks.

  • toddjude (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

any chance you can do a cold start + walk around + driving video ?

@wadds1971 Hello wadds1971 and thank you for your questions, all of which are very good ones.
Let me start by saying that all of the detail regarding the chip was discussed with Pcarmarket prior to the car going live and was never added into the posting.
The chip is specific to the ML3.1 control unit for all U.S. spec 3.2L 911's.
It does produce an extra 20HP on top of the already 207HP.
It's a 4K chip which was used by Porsche on all of the G50 models (87-89) as opposed to the 2K that was in the DME.
There has been no negative affects on the car at all and nothing special to do during any service, just continue to use 93 octane.
The B&B exhaust is very healthy with no leaks and sounds like it did when installed.
No rust what so ever, just the normal look of stainless steel over time.
Both of these upgrades were already part of the car when I purchased it and have not given my any issues, only great performance.
In 2018 I had the AC compressor replaced along with AC hose and barrier hose conversion, pressure switch, and receiver drier.
This is on one of the invoices in the pictures.
As with all air-cooled cars it will always need a recharge but it does blow cold.

@phowley - Could you provide some more detail re: the "chip upgrade" to the engine? What does this provide in terms of additional power and performance? How does this mod affect the stock settings for ignition, fuel delivery, etc? Any special requirements to be followed during future tune-ups, etc.? Also, does the B & B exhaust system seem healthy on inspection? Appears a bit rusty in the pics, but maybe that's just superficial. Does the refurbished A/C system blow "reasonably" cold? Thanks! Very nice looking Carrera.

Hello everyone and thank you for viewing my 1984 911 Carrera.
This car truly needs nothing other than a new owner and the reason for me parting ways with it is due to not having any more space or the time to care for the cars I have.
Under my ownership since 2014 it's been kept in a climate-controlled garage.
Lowered to a true European ride height it also has a few understated modifications that get your attention but never scream "hey look at me".
It also come with it's original window sticker, not in the best of shape, COA, original muffler, and a custom fit California Car cover.
    A true classic.
Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
    Regards.
