Up for auction is this beautiful 1984 Porsche 928 S finished in the combination of Platinum Metallic over a Dark Brown leather interior.  Representing the ultimate luxury grand tourer of its day, this 1984 example highlights a robust 4.7 L V8 engine which is mated to a desirable 5-speed manual gearbox.  Having spent most of its time on the sunny roads of California, this 928 S has undergone a recent full service and is now being offered for auction with a clean bill of health showing just over 115k miles on the odometer.

The classic Platinum Metallic finish is shown to be in great condition for its age, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  Some distinctive features include nostalgic popup headlights and a rear rear window wiper.  This example is currently equipped with a set of factory alloy finished Gullideckel wheels in the front and a polished version of the same wheels in the rear, which all wear Firestone tires.

Inside, the driver is situated in a luxurious Dark Brown leather upholstered cabin.  The interior is said to remain in excellent shape with freshly reupholstered front seats.  The seller notes that aftermarket audio components have been installed including a double DIN head unit and confirms all gauges, electrical features and accessories to be fully functional.

A hearty 4.7 L V8 engine sends approximately 234 horsepower to the rear wheels by way of a smooth shifting 5-speed manual transaxle.  Reaching a top speed of 146 MPH, Porsche claimed the 928 S to be the “fastest street legal production car sold in the U.S.” at the time.  The following maintenance items were carried out during a recent service:

  • Front Rotors and Brake Pads
  • Shifter Linkage and Ball Socket
  • Serpentine Belt
  • Fluid and Filter Changes
  • New Battery

Reported to be up to date on all scheduled maintenance, this 928 S is being offered for auction in excellent running order.

Coveted for its ability to cruise comfortably at high speeds for extended periods of time, the 928 remains among the most highly regarded and recognizable grand touring cars of all time.

The sale of this 1980’s motoring icon will include one master key, service records and a clear title.  If you have been in search of a truly well-presented vintage grand tourer, this 928 S makes an excellent choice.
