Up for auction is this 1984 Porsche 944 Coupe finished in Black over a black interior. This well-preserved 1984 example was recently purchased by the seller from its original owner in Canada who is said to have kept the car in storage since 1995 with routine startups to maintain good running order.  Some critical maintenance items have been addressed in the past year including the replacements of the timing belt, water pump, and tires.  Remaining highly original and in excellent running order with only 48k kilometers (30k miles) shown on the odometer, this sparingly driven 944 is now being offered by its seller in Kelowna B.C. accompanied by original books, tools, sales documentation, and a clean title.

The Black (02) paint on this example is reported to be in very nice original condition with only minor road going wear and a slight impression on the left rear quarter panel (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  Although its body is based on the 924, the 944 can be distinguished by its wider fenders, body-colored front spoiler, and black polyurethane rear spoiler surrounding the glass hatch.  Factory 15” forged Fuchs wheels are equipped with new General Altmax tires, and the original tires will also be included in the sale.

Inside, the cabin is been kept in great shape except for some typical dashboard cracks and wear on the seat bolsters.  Optional features selected for this example include a steering wheel with an elevated hub and a removable sunroof.  The factory radio was replaced by the selling dealer in 1984 and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

This first-generation 944 is equipped with a 2.5 L inline 4-cylinder engine rated at 150 HP from the factory.  The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transaxle while the optional front and rear stabilizer bars provide improved handling.  Under the care of its original owner, this 944 is said to have been regularly started and kept up to date on routine maintenance.  Service items carried out under the seller’s ownership within the last year include the replacements of the timing belt, balance shaft belt, pulleys, and water pump as well as a full fluid and filter service.  This example is reported to be in excellent running order with records dating back to the original purchase.

This sale will include a set of 2 keys, the original books and tools, the original tires, a sunroof cover, front bra, air compressor, wheel locks and keys, the original sale order, and a clean title.  For any transaxle Porsche enthusiast, this highly original 1984 944 makes an excellent choice.

    Getting close to the end.
This is a great original car that is a blast to drive. Unmolested, never abused and in excellent original condition.
I have not seen any as nice as mine. Not bad for a 36 year old Porsche.
Bid with confidence. The car is in secure heated underground parking. I can store the car for 2 - 3 months if needed.

I have checked at our local auto parts stores for a digital Paint meter. None in stock. I have ordered one on amazon but will not be here by auction end. The 944 has it’s all original factory paint. Other than some rock chips from driving and small scratch on top right side of the front bumper which is detailed in the photos. The paint is in excellent condition and shines well.
The car has always been parked inside.

Thanks for catching the error in the ad. I have asked Pcar to make the correction as per the VIN photo

  • paullemoine (seller) 3 years, 4 monthsago

The paint is all factory original. I do not have a paint meter. I see if available at local auto parts store.
You will have to confirm wit USA customs if there is any duty. The car is more than 25 years old. I believe duty exempt

    Hello,

Nice 944! Would you have paint meter readings to share? CA to US duty is 2.5% of purchase price?

Also, the VIN shown in the upper right page description has a typo, “GN” vs the correct “EN”.

    Thanks.

Hi Porsche aficionados. Shipping to USA during Covid it still available. Regular bonded auto transportation is easy to obtain. Importing to your state requires my current Canadian registration ownership document, a bill of sale and the USA customs Port of entry import document. You can still fly in an Drive home. I am 6 hours north east of Seattle.
