Up for auction at no reserve is this 1984 Porsche 944 finished in Platinum Metallic over a brown interior. Representing one of the earliest and purest versions of the Porsche 944 transaxle sports car, this 1984 example was originally imported by Volkswagen of America and sold from Cascade Imports Inc. of Ohio with optional partial leather seats, protective side moldings, a rear window wiper, removable sunroof panel, an alarm system, and a rare 3-speed automatic transmission. A lifelong one-owner car, this 944 is said to be accompanied by original owner’s manuals and records dating back to new. Having recently undergone a timing belt and water pump service in preparation for sale, this 944 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio showing just over 58k miles on the odometer.
This 944 was ordered in Platinum Metallic with optional body-colored protective side moldings. The seller notes some scratches and small dings throughout the exterior and describes degradation of the clear coat on the wheels. The front hood is also said to have been previously refinished, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. This 944 rides on factory 15” Porsche ATS “Cookie Cutter” wheels which come dressed in Kumho Ecsta tires dated from 2012.
Inside, you will find a brown interior with optional partial leather seats, a factory alarm system, a rear window wiper, and a removable sunroof panel with an electric tilt feature. The original Blaupunkt Monterey digital cassette radio remains in place and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This first-generation 944 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.5L inline-four engine paired with a highly uncommon 3-speed automatic transaxle, delivering up to 150 HP and 142 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Standard features include four-wheel independent suspension with a front stabilizer bar, power-assisted rack and pinion steering, and power-assisted ventilated disc brakes. Service records are said to be available dating back to the original purchase and a major service has been recently completed including replacements of the timing belt and water pump. A corresponding invoice is provided in the gallery.
This sale will include a key set, the original owner's manuals, and window sticker, a collection of service records, and a clean title. At no reserve, this 1984 944 presents an excellent opportunity to own a highly original vintage transaxle Porsche.

Are there any Rust Issues on this car? Thank you.
Well if the 3-speed was rare, then my parents had the other automatic equipped platinum metallic with brown interior 84 944 when my dad bought the car from House of Imports as the Porsche he’d always wanted. We traded it for an Rx-7, and our 944 supposedly headed for Japan.
Bid in the amount of $4,500

Bidders please note that in addition to the major service we had performed (see gallery for receipts), the A/C will be serviced this week prior to the close of the auction as it currently blows warm. It will be nice and cold!
@Poormans_944 @Pormans_944
We've changed out many original ones and had no issues with the paint, IF the paint is original (which on this car it is). The only times we've ever experienced issues with removing PPF of any sort is if the paint underneath is not original.
While we recognize that it doesn't look perfect, we wanted to present the 944 as we got it, which was, simply, original.
Very nice and tidy example but damn….In 37 years no one ever thought about changing out the stone guards?? This job will be very difficult to do without doing damage to the paint, ask me how I know…….nice looking 944 and GLWTA as they say.
