Now available for auction is this 1985 Ferrari 308 GTSi Quattrovalvole finished in Prugna over a tan leather interior.  Equipped with a 32-valve DOHC V8 engine, this 308 Quattrovalvole is reported to be one of only 250 U.S. market examples to have been finished in the shade of Prugna (Plum) and was acquired by the current owner less than two years ago after receiving a fresh engine-out service. The car has been driven approximately 1,500 miles since and has been serviced with new shocks, springs, oil, and fluids.  It is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Southern California with just over 73k miles showing on the odometer.

This 308 is finished in the rare shade of Prugna and is distinguishable as a Quattrovalvole model by the black louvered panels on its nose.  As a GTS model, this 308 also features a removable black Targa top.  The seller notes a few small touched-up stone chips which are depicted in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This 308 rides on factory 16” magnesium wheels that come dressed in Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires dated from 2018.  The original spare tire is also included in the trunk.

Inside, you will find a traditional tan leather interior with black carpeting and a black leather dashboard. A gated 5-speed manual shifter is nestled between the two seats, and a leather-wrapped three-spoke MOMO steering wheel sits ahead of analog Veglia instrumentation.  An aftermarket Alpine radio has been installed and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly including the air conditioning system which was serviced with a new belt and compressor in 2019.

This 308 Quattrovalvole features a mid-mounted 2.9L Tipo F105 V8 engine with four valves per cylinder and Bosch K-Jetrontic fuel injection.  As much as 240 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle.  A major engine-out service was completed shortly before the seller’s purchase in 2019 which included new timing belts and tensioners, an alternator belt, water pump belt, fuel lines, coolant pipes, and breather hoses.  Another service carried out in 2020 also included all new shocks and springs.  Most recently in 2021, an oil and fluid service was completed.  The car is said to be road-ready for its next owner and compliant with California emissions requirements.

This sale will include a toolkit, spare tie, a set of keys, a collection of records, and a clean title.  Presented in a stunning and rare color combination, this outstanding 308 GTSi makes a fine choice for any driver in search of a classic Ferrari.

    I want to thank all the bidders and wish them good luck in the last hours of the auction. Please don’t wait till the last minutes to place your final bid as it will extend the auction beyond it’s time limit. I’m already jealous of the new owner. I do truly love this car and think the new owner will too.
    Happy bidding!

    @Billygoat9 You are correct, sir!

  • Billygoat9 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Did a little search on this car… Turns out it was featured in the Ferrari Chat Forum as one of the 19 Prugna Ferraris remaining in the US. There is also a promo article in YAHOO!’s Motorius about its sale. There is definable a buzz about this one.

    @Dudemel oh yes! Also, car is completely turn key and road ready.

  • Flat6fan (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @Dudemel Major services in 2019 (including all belts/ tensioners along with water pump rebuild and new AC compressor.)
    Minor services 2021 (oil an fluids along with brake fluid flush)

  • Dudemel (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    When was the last major service on this car?
    Is it turnkey?
    Sexy color BTW

  • Flat6fan (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @Billygoat9 I had the opportunity to move up to an F430 model that belonged to my brother in-law as he moved up to an Italia model...
    Just ran out of room in the stable and think that a new owner would get so much more joy from it while I would struggle to drive it enough.

  • Billygoat9 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    It demands attention in that color!
    Why sell after you got her all sorted out?

  • Flat6fan (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @kilof16 Thank you,
    The Ferrari in the comment link video belongs to Mark Gomez in Colorado; Identical to mine but a different car. As far as I know, the paint is original to the car.

  • kilof16 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Bellisima colore! @Flat6fan, the video mentioned that it was sold through BaT but I'm not seeing it there. Confirm that Prugna is the original color? Also, was it ever repainted? Thanks

  • Flat6fan (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Again, I highly recommend watching this video.
    It answers many of the questions I get via email.
    Thank you and happy bidding….

    I have a short clip that I can send to your email directly if you don’t mind (using the ask the seller button). Pcarmarket only posts YouTube videos and for privacy reasons, I don’t want to post it on YouTube. I hope you understand.
    Thanks.

    @twinpalms11 ,
    During the last minor service, Nov 2021, breaks were inspected and given the OK and the break fluid was flushed and replaced.
    The new photos I’ve uploaded to the site has all this in detail. Not sure why they have not posted them yet??

  • twinpalms11 2 years, 8 monthsago

    How are the brakes? When was the last time pads and rotors were done?

  • Flat6fan (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @Richardg BTW, just saw on one of my images that the clutch was replaced in 2019 with the major service.

  • Flat6fan (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @ianbsears Of course. Although I’m on a business trip at the moment. I do have some images of recent service records on my phone and just sent to Pcarmrket to post.
    However I will be back to my home base before the end of the auction and if you need any additional ones, I will be happy to oblige.

  • ianbsears (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @flatsixfan - can you please post images of the service records. Thank you.

    @Richardg The AC blows cold with it’s new compressor and belt. If you’ve owned a 308, you know the windows are sloow but (fully operable here)
    Zero rust in door sills.
    The radiator was boiled/ cleaned and painted in 2019, so, no corrosion there at all.
    Hope that helps.

  • Richardg (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Thanks for the info. Couple more questions.
    How is the AC?
    How are the window motors? Sloooow ?
    Any corrosion at bottom of the doors?
    Any corrosion on the radiator tank?
    I’ve owned a couple of 308s. It’s a beautiful car.

    @Richardg Belt services in 2019 with less than 1500 miles on it. No electrical issues known as it has the Birdman fuse box upgrade. Will have to get back to you on the clutch change as I have to contact the previous owner. However from the driving standpoint the clutch is very responsive to the slightest release, which indicates good function.

  • Richardg (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    When was the last belt service? Was the clutch changed? Any electrical issues?

  • Flat6fan (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @JNasty ;
    The shields are magnetic and simply removed without any damage to paint.

  • MCDNIFE 2 years, 8 monthsago

  • noahkl (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @JNasty Exactly my first question too.

  • JNasty (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Are the shields stickers and can they come off w/ out paint harm?

  • Flat6fan (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Greetings,
    I’m the owner of this gorgeous Prugna 308 GTSi
    It was always my dream car and I got it sorted out mechanically to go on a cross country trip at any given time. I would be happy to answer any questions to the best of my knowledge.
