Introduced for the 1984 model year, the 911 Carrera retained the familiar design of the outgoing 911 SC while benefiting from power upgrades, most notably a larger 3.2-liter flat-six engine. This 1985 example is finished in special-order Marble Grey, distinguished by its L999 paint code, over Burgundy leather upholstery. Showing fewer than 125k miles on the odometer, this 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.

This Carrera is finished in Marble Grey, a rare special-order color offered for the 1985 and 1986 model years. Exterior features include front and rear spoilers, rectangular front fog lights, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels mounted with older tires. The selling dealer notes minor road wear on the front valance, right-side rocker panel, and rear valance. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the driver is greeted with Burgundy leather upholstery and color-coordinating carpets. Amenities include power windows, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, Porsche-lettered floor mats, a Blaupunkt stereo, and a sound system. The driver’s sun visor requires replacement, and wear is shown throughout the seating and steering wheel.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine, factory rated at 207 HP and 192 lb-ft of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission delivers power to the rear wheels. Standard mechanical equipment includes four-wheel independent suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, rack and pinion steering, and power-assisted disc brakes. The seller notes the last major service was completed in 2004, with routine oil changes performed since. Minor engine oil leaks are reported, and the seller recommends attention to the gearbox synchronizers, shifter bushings, and suspension struts.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “The owner of this car purchased it in 1987 and is now ready to sell due to health problems, but has always enjoyed owning this car for the last 38 years.”

@jagtampa53 The oil leaks seem to be coming from oil return tubes and valve covers but would need to be cleaned and driven to be properly diagnosed. The gearbox is the 915 version

@Ralph0067 Without disassembling the transmission and inspecting worn parts it’s not possible to give an accurate estimate but it is common for this job to be in the $5 k range.

  • Ralph0067 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Since you the seller are a Porsche specialist what is your estimate for a tranny rebuild which I presume would include a new clutch service?

  • GoldCrestMotorsports (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@AirCooledEddie thank you for the comments and yes we are doing our best to represent the car accurately however I think the picture are fair to the cars condition. We are more than happy to have the car available for inspection and with notice have on a lift for you.

  • AirCooledEddie (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

this looks like a major project, engine and transmission need complete rebuild .
interior is tired, I appreciate that you have presented the car accurately. Restoration will cost to much to be practical for me . I think your photography makes it look better than it is. Is the car available for inspection?

  • GoldCrestMotorsports (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

Current owner of 38 years states no paint work has been done to the car and after inspection we agree paint appears to be original.

  • twickes40 (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

@seller is the paint original? Any paint meter readings?

  • GoldCrestMotorsports (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@urfealex Not sure how long synchro's have been an issue it was just noticed on our initial test drive. the shift rod assembly will need all of the bushing when gearbox is repaired.

  • urfealex (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

How long have the synchros been problematic? TIA.

  • GoldCrestMotorsports (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@Ralph0067 - original first owner did not keep the window sticker with the vehicle.

  • Ralph0067 (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago
