Introduced in 1984, the Carrera 3.2 marked the final evolution of Porsche's original 911 series and remains an iconic sports car of the 1980s. This 1985 911 Carrera Cabriolet comes refinished in Guards Red over a Black interior and equips a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle connected to its 3.2-liter flat-six engine, 16" Fuchs wheels, and power-adjustable seats. Showing just under 85k miles on the odometer, this classic Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This 911 showcases a Guards Red exterior, which underwent refinishing in 2016 along with a replaced black convertible soft top and a matching canvas boot cover. It equips impact-absorbing bumpers and a front valence featuring integrated fog lights and headlight washers. The 16” Fuchs wheels are powder-coated black and wrapped in Fuzion Touring tires showing date codes from 2012-2013. The seller notes the tires are in good condition, with approximately 85% tread life remaining. The side window seals for the soft top and seals and covers for the brake lights have also been replaced. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The interior features Black partial leather upholstery with matching carpet floor mats, a heated and power-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, and an aftermarket Panasonic radio. The seller reports the rear brake light switch was replaced in June 2021, while the window wiper switch was replaced in May 2013. All gauges and electronics are reported to be working properly.

Power is derived from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine, delivering up to 207 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. Maintenance records indicate various replacements and repairs over the years. Previous maintenance under different ownership includes steering column bushing replacement in 2012, spark plug replacement in April 2013, sensor replacement in the firewall in July 2014, blower motor replacement in March 2016, shift rod bushings and coupler replacement in September 2020, and oil dipstick replacement in May 2023. Additionally, previous work involved resurfacing the flywheel and pressure plate, replacing synchronizer rings, and repairing a cracked transaxle case. Under current ownership, the car's ride height was adjusted to its original setting and the air conditioning unit was recharged.

This sale will include a spare tire, a soft top cover, and a clean title.

    To be clear, it is an original Porsche spoiler but not original to this car.

  • performanceautows (seller) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

    @jjmonte You are correct, it was added by a previous owner.

  • jjmonte (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

    Agree with previous comments on the gearbox. Too much emphasis placed on the G50. Also these cars got porkier generally, including because of the G50. Owned a SC for years and the shifting was engaging and not an issue as long as it was well adjusted.
    Is that tea tray spoiler an aftermarket add on? That’s for a turbo and don’t see it on the options sticker.

  • performanceautows (seller) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

    @yasinmoh Yes, it works correctly.

    @79Alfetta Totally agree with what you are saying. It doesn't take much to get used to it and it is a pleasure to drive.

    I have noted all of the attention being given to the other Guards Red 3.2 and none to this car. The later cars are improved and have the G50 gearbox, they are objectively better cars. The Porsche ethos of continual subtle upgrades is evident in the 3.2's. I currently own a 915 cab and in the past owned another 915 as well as a G50. The 915 is quirkly but exceptionally engaging if you have good shift bushings and a Wevo-type coupling. (My only grouse is the non-synchro reverse--but that teaches you patience) I smile every time I manage to make a 2-3 or 4-5 upshift when it feels exactly like a sequential gearbox--push up straight. OK, I get it that way 20% only of the time but it is worth it. Don't dismiss the 915s, subjectively and as a driving experience they are the equal of the G50s.
