Unveiled in 1984, the 911 Carrera inherited several design elements from its predecessor, the 911SC, while undergoing significant mechanical enhancements, notably with a larger 3.2-liter flat-six engine. Configured for the German home market, this imported 1985 example boasts enhanced engine performance compared to its U.S. counterpart and features distinctive European side marker lights and bumperettes. It comes finished in Guards Red over a black leather interior with vinyl front seats. Benefitting from a previous engine and transmission rebuild, this 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with less than 61k miles showing on the odometer.
This Carrera comes finished in Guards Red. Equipment includes a front valance with integrated fog lights, a front chin spoiler, chrome headlight bezels, European side marker lenses & bumperettes, a whale tail rear spoiler, and 16” Fuchs wheels dressed in Dunlop Direzza ZIII tires driven less than 2k miles. The driver-side door and front fender have been refinished by the previous owner, while the current owner refinished the front bumper due to paint chips. Minor signs of road wear and paint imperfections are present, such as slight color variation on the hood from prior paint protection film and texture irregularities below the right headlight. Some small exterior rust spots are observed along panel edges, along with two areas measuring approximately 1/4" x 1" on the passenger-side door and lower left corner of the windshield. The windshield has been replaced along with the headlamps, turn signal, and brake light bulbs. Some track use is reported, the front fenders have been rolled, and window tint has been applied. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Paint meter readings are reported below:
The interior features black leather upholstery including a refurbished steering wheel, replacement Porsche vinyl seats, and a new dashboard. Other features include a power sunroof, new sun visors, a central locking system, kill-switch security, and an upgraded A/C with R134a (3rd fan-driven condenser added in the wheel well, new front condenser fan, a new evaporator, a compressor, hoses & cabin fan all added at $7,000). Modifications include lowering the driver’s seat frame by 1.5" for more headroom, custom black floor mats with red logos, RSR-style door panels, and red 3-point safety belts. Some wear is visible on the driver’s seat surface and side bolsters, temporarily repaired with tape. The steering column controls and sunroof seal have been replaced, the front compartment leather has been dyed to restore its black color, and a new head unit with SiriusXM, an amplifier beneath the passenger's seat, 4 speakers, and a removable subwoofer has been installed. The clock works intermittently, and the cabin heating, cruise control, parking brake indicator, and seatbelt light are currently inoperable.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine rated at 231 HP with a higher European-spec 10.3:1 compression ratio. The engine is paired with a 5-speed 915 manual gearbox driving the rear wheels. In 2021, the seller invested approximately $14k in a top-end rebuild, which included new valves, rings, gaskets, head studs, an ignition relay, a reseal, and upgraded motor mounts. Additionally, a new cable and clutch assembly were installed. The previous owner reportedly conducted an engine rebuild in 2010, which included upgraded camshafts, as well as a complete transmission rebuild which included lowering the gear ratios. Other mechanical enhancements have also been made. Other mechanical improvements include the following:
This sale will include a clean title, (3) keys, (4) floor mats, (2) European-style license plates, a removable sub-woofer for under the back seat, a portable floor jack and jack paddle plate, a spare tire, (2) spare DME modules for the Bosch engine computer, fuses, LED bulbs, trunk carpet, and storage baskets.
The seller would like you to know: “This iconic Guards Red over black European G-series Carrera has been my daily driver for the past 5 years. It’s a joy to drive and garners attention everywhere I go! It’s mechanically solid, the steering is crisp, shifting with the rebuilt 915 is smooth and precise, the braking is firm, the clutch is effortless, the upgraded AC blows cold, and the robust orchestral roar of the dual exhaust is unique. All yearly services and repairs have been professionally performed. This is a great car and I’m sad to see it go. I will be replacing it with a 2024 Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0 in May. I hope the new owner will embrace the same nostalgic passion for this legendary car that I have enjoyed."

Sold for $56,000
Congrats to the winner. I was super tempted to jump in at the end, but the timing isn't great for me. Enjoy it!

This is harmful to the auction but we will do it as a courtesy so the seller has this car 100% sold
If there is a way to retract my last bid, I may be not interested in the end. Still a very low price so hopefully outbids me
I’ll try to keep it local to you! Lol

Thanks, glad you like it. The crest is actually a decal from Amazon I applied to the license plate.
@SellCarrera425 First and foremost, gorgeous G-Body. I have an ‘88 Targa as well as a couple of 997’s. I was curious about your license plate. I live in South Florida and had no idea that plates were available with the Porsche crest. Do you know if the Florida DMV still produces these plates? I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on your auction as I’m a G-Body nut. GLWTA
The history is unclear. The mileage reports on Carfax increase incrementally from 31,000 in 1992 to 95,000 in 1997. The previous owner purchased the car in 1999, had left it sitting unused since 2010 and performed considerable service to get it up and running before selling it to me in 2019. The odometer was inoperable and read 42,000. I had the 6 digit VDO odometer rebuilt and it now reads 060,595. My mechanic who has considerable experience with air cooled Porsches and has performed all the maintenance, repairs and engine rebuild does not believe it looks like a “high mileage” car.
The mileage listed does not jive with the Carfax report……why?

My mechanic performed cylinder compression testing yesterday to help validate engine integrity. All 6 cylinders had pressure readings of 170 +/- 4 psi (167, 168, 171, 168, 174, 173). I’ll upload photos of the gauge readings.
My mechanic believes the transmission adds significantly to the car’s value. The 915 transmission was completely rebuilt and the gear ratios were shortened under direction of the previous owner. This results in a higher RPM, more torque, quicker acceleration, and smaller RPM drop when shifting. In addition, the transmission has a small integrated radiator for cooling.
