Now available for auction is this 1985 Porsche 911 Turbo finished in Black over a black leather interior.  One of just over 1k examples produced for the model year, this 930 was imported to the U.S. from Europe as a gray market car and was purchased by the current owner from the importing dealer in December of 1985.  It has been fitted with authentic Porsche boxed rocker panels and side air intakes and came factory equipped with heated power-operated Sport Seats.  The car has been rigorously maintained since new including routine oil changes and major engine-out service in 2015 with approximately 1k miles driven since.  Remaining under the care of its original owner, this 930 shows just over 41k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction out of New York accompanied by period documents, original manuals, and original accessories.

This Turbo is finished in Black and sports European market bumperettes and lighting. Genuine Slant Nose style side air intakes were added during the current ownership along with matching boxed rocker panels.  The driver-side door was refinished along with the replacement of the window following a break-in many years ago.  The seller adds that the car has never been involved in an accident nor has it been driven in the rain or snow during their ownership.  Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  The factory 16” Fuchs wheels come dressed in a set of Bridgestone RE71 tires which were mounted in 1987 at approximately 24k miles.

Inside, the black leather interior features a pair of heated and power-operated Sport Seats as well as a factory Porsche telltale boost gauge mounted in place of the clock.  Other features include air conditioning, power windows, a sunroof, a cassette storage console, vintage Alpine radio, and black carpet floor mats with red Turbo script. Minimal signs of wear on noted on the driver seat as well as shrinkage of the leather dashboard upholstery due to age.

Power comes from a turbocharged and intercooled 3.3L air-cooled flat-six engine rated at 300 HP from the factory.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual gearbox.  A major engine-out service was completed in March of 2015 at 40,225 miles including a top-end rebuild and new clutch. In December of 2021, a final rebuild shakedown was performed including a valve adjustment, compression test, and oil change. The seller adds that the car has been fastidiously maintained with routine oil changes completed every 2k miles. Some records are provided in the gallery along with photos from the major engine service.

This sale will include a toolkit, owner's manuals, oil temperature/pressure gauge, an air pump, a first-aid kit, a clean title, and a collection of documentation. Maintained by the same caretaker since new, this tastefully modified European-market 930 is ready to begin its journey with a new owner.

@Randall930 RoW, meaning Rest of World. Don’t feel bad, it’s hard to keep up with all the Porsche nerd lingo! Although this one is not a Porsche specific term.

Great old photos, by the way. Very cool. Love the shades and jacket!

@Jahan If you look at picture#44 you will see the whole dashboard top, & it is in excellent shape. If you look at picture #54 you will see the right side area where it is shrinking. You will also see the seam of the piece of leather. It is that piece only that needs to be replaced, if you want perfection. Lastly under all my years of ownership I have treated the interior, especially the dash. With Hide Food which is recommended by Rolls Royce for their Conolly leather. As a result no dryness, or cracks in seats, armrests, wheel, leather Porsche embossed shift knob, or anything leather covered all soft, & supple

@sportscarguy3 You & I have similar taste, my thoughts exactly about the box rockers, & traditional nose thank you for the compliment

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Just a couple of more thoughts
This European model has a few more horsepower at 300 rated
Also, I dig the smaller, European, rear impact bumperets
Finally, I think the box rockers and factory rear quarter panel vents are a cool touch without having the front flat nose look

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

    Pardon my error
It was earlier, here on Pcarmarket , that I saw and commented on your handsome Porsche !
As I mentioned then, like mine, that I recently purchased, a black on black 930 turbo is a great classic look (imho)
    Looking forward to the auction
    Good luck all

  • Randall930 (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Jahan The dash does not need to be replaced. The leather needs to be redone . It is the car's patina over age that any '80s 911 with a leather dash has . Never priced it but can't imagine it being a lot. As the shrinkage is just starting, & is only in the lower right side where dash meets windshield thanks

  • Randall930 (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@sportscarguy3 I think you are confusing my car with someone else's. This is the first time I have ever offered this. car for sale in the 36 years K have owned it thanks

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Wasn’t the same Porsche just for sale on either this site or bring a trailer?
I know I have seen the same video recently and as I did this time watching it asked myself why was that guy walking around the car always in the video?
Regardless, still a very handsome 930 turbo
    Good luck all

Fair price for such a beauty in Europe is above USD 120'000 in this excellent condition.

  • JPC_911 2 years, 4 monthsago

    @Jahan usd 2'000 (european price)

  • Jahan (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Randall930 hi. Any Idea how much it will cost to replace the dash?
    Thanks

  • stad0042 2 years, 4 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $20,000

  • Randall930 (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Jahan Nothing happened to the dash top other than normal aging of leather over tome, & sun light. The only area is minimal shrinking in the right hand corner of dash top. Yes it can easily be repaired, because I have looked into it. Hope that answers your questions thanks for your query

  • Jahan (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Hi: may I ask what is wrong with the dash top, what happened? Can it be fixed? Have you looked into fixing it?
    Thanks for your reply

  • JD458 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

    @Randall930 Thank you.

  • Randall930 (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@JD458 I do not have the original rockers, the only time the rear fenders were painted was when the box rockers and ducts were installed. At this time i do not have pictures of the under carriage. However in a couple of days when I can get to the location of where the car is stored. I will take some under carriage shots. In the meantime there are pictures of the engine out of the car, as well as transmission both are original numbers matching, never replaced thanks

  • JD458 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Beautiful car. Black on black Turbo 930 is one of my favorite cars. Do you have the original rocker panels? Also can you tell me more about the repaint of the rear fenders; was this done at the same time as the rear air vents? Do you also have any pictures of the under side of the engine, transmission and suspension. Thanks and good luck with the auction.

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

    Sharp looking 930 turbo
As I have often said here on P car market, a Black black 930 turbo is hard to beat
With one owner, moderate miles, recent engine out service and the custom boxed rockers and vents this Porsche 930 Turbo should do very very well
Finally having just bought my new 1987 930 turbo I’ll be watching and interested and how the auction does
    Good luck all !
