Available for auction is this 1985 Volkswagen Type 2 Pickup Single Cab Kombi finished in white over a black vinyl interior. Brazilian production of Volkswagen’s Type 2 commenced in 1957 and continued until 2013. Over its 56 year production run more than 1.5 million Kombis were produced. This 1985 example was acquired by the seller approximately two years ago , and was subsequently imported from Brazil in 2022. It features a rear-mounted 1.6L inline-four cylinder diesel engine paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle, fold-down bedsides, 14” steel wheels with body-color hubcaps, and more. Type 2 Kombis equipped with diesel engines were only produced in Brazil from 1982 through 1985.This Kombi is now being offered for auction by its seller while showing just over 27k kilometers (17k miles) on its five-digit odometer.
This Kombi features a single cab configuration and is finished in white. The fold-down bedsides were added under current ownership and have been refinished. Details include a black radiator cover with a “Diesel” badge, black front and rear bumpers, dual side mirrors, and 14” steel wheels with body-color hubcaps. The wheels are dressed in a set of Pirelli Chrono tires which the seller reports signs of drying.
Inside, the split bench seat is trimmed in black vinyl with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Features include vintage-style green tinted windows, rubber floor liners, a fire extinguisher, a two-spoke steering wheel, and hand-crank windows. The seller confirms that all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional.
Power comes from a rear-mounted 1.6L inline-four cylinder diesel engine and the rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual transaxle. Four new fuel injectors are said to have been installed and an oil and filter service was performed. The seller notes that there are currently no outstanding service items, and has provided additional images of the drivetrain and undercarriage in the gallery.

@Steve113 The car is in really rare and good condition, but it's still a 38 year old car. I wouldn't recommend driving it on a trip like this. It would be a cool trip, but I cannot give you any guarantees that you will complete the trip without any problems, but the choice is yours. Sorry if I frustrated you, but I'm being honest.

@adminww08 Hi, Any diesel mechanic can work on it. It's a 1.6L VW engine ( very similar than the 80's VW Rabbit engine)

Can you tell us about the diesel engine? Who can service this other than Brazilian VW mechanics? Parts to repair engine-where would we obtain those from? Etc.
