The Chevrolet K5 Blazer is a GM-produced sport utility vehicle, nicknamed “square-body,” and features a half-cab design with a removable hardtop. Powered by a 6.2-liter diesel V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case, this 1986 example has been refinished in Malibu Sunset Orange Metallic over a refreshed tan cloth interior. Upgraded with a lift kit, 15” American Racing wheels, a Boss touchscreen head unit, and more, this K5 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of South Carolina.
As part of a previous restoration, this example received rust repairs, a refinish in Malibu Sunset Orange Metallic, and a replacement front grille, rear bumper, and body mounts. Details include chrome trim, a black hardtop, front recovery hooks, a suspension lift, and polished 15” American Racing wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with an accident-free CARFAX report.
The cabin features reupholstered tan cloth seats and matching upholstery, installed during a refurbishment that also included a replacement dash pad, door locks, window motors, dash lights, and door and window seals. Amenities include air conditioning, an LED dome light, a two-spoke steering wheel, power windows and locks, and a Boss touchscreen head unit. The cruise control system is currently inoperative.
The 6.2-liter diesel V8 is reported to have been overhauled under prior ownership. As part of the refurbishment, an aluminum radiator was installed, the air conditioning system was converted to R134a refrigerant, and the heater core, batteries, vacuum pump and lines, oil cooler lines, and radiator hoses were replaced. Power is delivered to the rear or all four wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The transmission cooler lines were replaced in March 2023. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This truck is a real workhorse, and a rare find. Most of the diesel Blazers were destined for the military market. This is one of the few that was built and optioned for civilian use.”
