Finished in Guards Red over a black interior, this 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe was sold new from Bozzani Porsche in West Covina, California, and was acquired by the seller from its original owner, a family member, approximately 33 years ago. It comes equipped with a 5-speed manual transaxle paired with its 3.2-liter flat-six engine as well as an optional shorted gearshift lever, Sport shock absorbers, a central locking system, 16” Fuchs alloy wheels, power-adjustable front seats, a sunroof, and upgraded stainless-steel brake lines. Recently serviced in preparation for sale, this Carrera Coupe is now being offered for auction out of California while showing approximately 22k miles on the odometer.

This 911 is finished in traditional Guards Red and features a front valence with integrated fog lights, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, an electrically operated sunroof, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels dressed in Dunlop Direzza DZ102 tires. The seller notes that a full paint correction and ceramic coating were recently completed, and paint meter readings suggest a small area of the right rear quarter panel was refinished. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is trimmed in a combination of black leather and leatherette upholstery with matching carpets and a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel. Equipment includes power-adjustable front seats, a shortened gear shift lever, a central locking system, cruise control, air-conditioning, power windows, and an original Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 23 stereo. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.

This Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine that delivers up to 207 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a Type 915 5-speed manual transaxle. The car is equipped with optional Sport shock absorbers and fixed 2-piston brakes paired with ventilated discs at each corner. The seller notes an oil change was recently completed along with a brake fluid flush, A/C system service, and installation of upgraded stainless-steel brake lines.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, some documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “A fantastically preserved cultural artifact in the period preferred color combo. The next custodian will be very pleased!”

Given what other low-mileage G-Bodies have been fetching lately, this should have a ways to go. I would be all over it if I had the garage space.

@YAFA - All 4 wheels on the Porsche are genuine OEM Fuchs. The 7" fronts are original to the Carrera and were moved from the rear to the front and genuine 8" Fuchs were sourced and mounted to the rear: a popular upgrade. If you want to source genuine 6" fronts and move the 7" back to to the rear they are available and inexpensive relative to the 7's and 8's.

StuntRoad: the car looks in good condition; I'm very interested. Any way we can get both a cold start and a running temp video with close ups of the engine and the dipstick extracted to view a close up of the oil color/how fast it drips off the stick?

@Dben93 - Don't hesitate to ask. Yes a bit of overspray on the spring plate. It appears there was a small repair on the quarter panel. There is no documentation of the repair

@Asvertes - No problem to schedule a PPI at your expense. Just reach out via the contact seller button and we organize.

  • Dben93 (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

I hate to bring this up on this platform but I am a serious contender and would like to understand if what I see on pic 271 is overspray or just reflection? The other side doesn't have this.

  • Asvertes (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Is there a Porsche mechanic that can do a PPI?

  • YAFA (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

@Stunt_Road Wonderful and well presented 911. Do you have a way to find the original Fuchs 6' & 7' wheels? It makes all the sense to return this one to its all original condition.

  • WGris (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Beautiful car. Any chance for a short driving video?

  • Stunt_Road (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

@zacharyshea - Thank you for the compliments it is indeed how you describe it: a "well preserved, beautiful car". To answer your questions: Yes, the Porsche has had the 7" Genuine OEM Fuchs rear wheels moved to the front axles and 8" Genuine OEM Rear Wheels replacing the 7" Wheels in the rear: a common upgrade and receipts to document when this happened are not available, the same applies to the stainless steel braided brake lines. The Porsche has had two owners within one family. The first owner had personalized plates which do not accompany the Porsche. The Carrera has lived its whole life in Coronado Island, San Diego in Climate controlled garages. The original lights were sealed beams which when they expire the only option is to replace the whole lamp, there is no documentation as to when this incidental service was done. It looks like the quarter panel had a spot repair for a scratch based on paint meter readings. The odometer readings are commensurate with carfax and available documentation. Typically odometer failures are associated with high mileage and not time and there is zero evidence that the mileage is other than as it reads and carfax supports this. To be frank, shutting the door, engaging the gears, looking at the paint, and interior touchpointds it is obvious this 911 is everything its mileage indicates. As you pointed out, not much service needed in just sub 22k miles. Thanks for all the great questions!

@Stunt_Road This is truly a well preserved, beautiful car. A few questions for you. Code 395 comes with Fuchs 6 & 7s, however, I believe currently you have the 7 & 8s. Do you know when or do you have the receipt/invoice to when this was changed? Do you have the receipt/invoice to when the steel brake lines were changed, or do you know when they were changed? Do we know how many owners here? According to Carfax, 2017 was registered to a new owner, and the sequence of the CA license plate is year/period correct for 2017. Do you have the original CA license plate when this car was purchased or was it a personal plate which can only be transferred if allowed by the selling owner at that time? How many years have you owned this car?

According to the service book, for the first 5 years, the car was driven less than 10k miles, though overall this car has very little miles driven till today, do you have any invoice/receipts/service paperwork between 1991 to 2023? Original head lights were bosch with the sugar scoops. These are Sylvanias. Do you know when they were changed? On the rear quarter panel that was refinished, do you know what happened? Do you have any paperwork on this? These VDO speedometer/odometer are prone to breakdown after so many years, has this one ever been repaired at anytime, any paperwork?

This is a beautiful, well preserved one here. Even the cosmoline are still intact under the car!! Though so few miles have been driven, the car has been passing CA smogged almost every two years. Since so few driven miles, maybe not much service was needed; it would be nice to have some/any/all paperwork for the work that's been done besides the latest oil change that took place this year in August. Thank you in advance!

I know “Stunt-Road” -Tom- (having bought a G-body from him) Tom is knowledgeable, forthright, and very pleasant to work with–truly one of the good guys.

I also know this car. I was lucky enough to have a chance to go over this car closely (was in local shop for service while I was there). It is absolutely STUNNING--like a time capsule/new car. Still has factory cosmoline on underside!

Here, one can confidently buy the seller and buy the car!
