Originally designated for the European market (RoW) and equipped with a more powerful motor than its U.S. spec counterparts, this 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet comes finished in Black over a Cashmere Beige interior with optional Sport Seats. It was purchased by the seller, its second owner, in 2004 and was thoroughly serviced before spending most of its time displayed on the showroom floor of the seller’s dealership. This 911 eventually moved with the seller to Florida in 2016 where it has been kept in climate-controlled storage as part of a private classic car collection. Diligently maintained including a convertible top replacement and recent A/C system overhaul, this Carrera is now being offered for auction with approximately 70k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911 is finished in Black (L700) with a matching cabriolet top. Equipment includes slim European-spec bumperettes and side marker lights, an integrated chin spoiler and front fog lights, a fender-mounted antenna, headlamp washers, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller notes the cabriolet top was replaced in 2015 and the doors were refinished under the original ownership to address some cosmetic imperfections. Some swirls are present in the clear coat as well as a very small dent on the rear decklid. The seller adds that new Continental ExtremeContact tires were mounted in 2016 with approximately 1k miles driven since. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this 911 features a Black and Cashmere Beige partial leather interior with optional electric height-adjustable Sport Seats. Accessories include a black leather four-spoke steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, a quartz clock, a locking glove box, and an aftermarket Nakamichi CD stereo paired with upgraded speakers. The seller notes the seats and instrument cluster have been reupholstered and new black plastic trim pieces were recently installed for the top handles. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

The European-spec 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 231 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. The seller states the car was thoroughly serviced upon their purchase in 2004 and has been kept up to date with routine maintenance including oil changes, brake fluid flushes, a new battery, shocks, and suspension bushings. Most recently, the steering column bushing was replaced and the A/C system was overhauled.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a warranty booklet, a toolkit, a car cover, a battery charger, a European TUV certificate, a HEPP medical kit, a Porsche Touring Pass, a convertible top key, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for viewing this beautiful Porsche! I have owned it for about 20 years and enjoy it every time I drive it. This car is part of a small 5-car classic collection and is the only Porsche in the mix. I am moving and have to downsize which is the reason for the sale. While I was President at BMW Manhattan the car was maintained with no expense spared and that continued to present. The car is absolutely ready to go, needs nothing, and will happily drive anywhere you're willing to take it.”

@speedhead2 I do not believe this car got a G50. It was only on the later 87-89 cars to my knowledge

  • speedhead2 (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

Hi, does the car have a G50-gearbox already?

@targahawk videos coming this afternoon! It’s been gloomy here the past few days and haven’t had a good time to take the car out. I will look through the records and confirm answers on engine resealing. As is there are no leaks at all.

  • targahawk (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

Also, if you could post a video of the car running / driving that would be helpful! thanks

  • targahawk (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

Seller, you note a reseal of the engine. Approximately what year was that done? Do you have record of that? Any major recent service on the engine? Work done in 2004 is now twenty years old. Any insight would be appreciated!

@Pcars thank you for your question and bid! No internal engine work has been done. It’s been resealed over the years but I never had a reason to open it up further. Fuel lines would have been done in 2004. I’ll have to see what I can dig up in regards to the clutch. When driving it shows no sign of age or wear so I would say it’s possible the whole assembly was changed.
