An exclusive German-based Porsche tuner known for some of the most eye-catching poster cars of the 1980s, Gemballa is synonymous with the most innovative, unusual, extreme, and expensive vehicle conversions. This 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet was originally configured for the European market and was customized by Gemballa for what was believed to be a show car for Pioneer audio during the 80s and 90s. It has been reimagined as a Slant Nose with wide fenders and features a set of matching BBS wheels along with a completely customized Ivory leather interior. A stunning representation of period style, this rare Gemballa 911 is now being offered for auction showing just under 32k miles on the odometer.

The car has been modified by Gemballa with wider flares for the wheel arches including Slant Nose style side air intakes and flat fenders with popup headlamps. Other additions include custom side skirts with air scoops, a rear valence with quad exhaust tips, a Gemballa-branded center tail panel, and a front valence with integrated fog lights. The car is finished in a custom shade of dark red and rides on matching three-piece BBS wheels with Gemballa logo center caps. Images of Gemballa manufacturer stampings are present on the bodykit and the Sumitomo tires show production date codes from 2000. The seller adds that the car remains unrestored since the original Gemballa conversion.

The interior has been completely reupholstered by Gemballa with Ivory leather and burgundy carpeting. Custom door panels have been installed along with Gemballa-branded electrically adjustable and heated sport seats, a multifunction steering wheel, Gemballa instrument dials, and a custom leather-wrapped dashboard and center console. The upgraded sound system includes subwoofers mounted beneath the seats as well as an aftermarket radio and CD changer.

This Carrera is equipped with a European-spec 3.2-liter flat-six engine driving the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. An upgraded dual-exit exhaust has been installed and images of the undercarriage show newly replaced components as well as the engine and transmission case stampings.

This sale will include a clean title.

Hello, This Real Gemballa you see here listed is UNRESTORED same as it left Gemballa
    36 years ago.

Original Gemballa Candy apple paint, original high quality leather interior with all the right smells ,even the original power top by Gemballa

The bottom of the car looks like it has never driven in the rain or snow the bolts and nuts still have the original plating and phosphates, car is very dry no leaks.

The 31,800 miles shown appear correct and the car fax proves it .

This car was the Pioneer auto sound system show vehicle , If some one out there has pictures of the Auto shows from that era please send them to me.

Uwe Gemballa was one of the top German builders from this era and built the most exotic and expensive cars.
    Thank you

Isn't this car currently on EBAY? or is it a twin?

  • Valor1 (registered bidder) 1 year, 1 monthago

Same question: Are the body panels metal or composite / fiberglass?

  • SilverRose (registered bidder) 1 year, 1 monthago

@rmcmiami - are the body mods in metal, fiber or plastic?

So much to love here. The 928-style door AC vents are amazing, as is that steering wheel hub. And looks like quad OEM 930 exhaust tips!

I'm just a sucker for drop-tops with color keyed wheels and light colored interior. Man, what a spec! And it's got a 5spd. GL

@JohnBlackyoldtimer Hello not all Gemballa cars have been tuned by RUF however we dont know if it was in fact tuned by them. It seems to have a RUF style exhaust and pulls stronger than a stock 3.2. Not sure what a "noralgic point" is but glad to provide more photos. The hydraulics are for the fully functional power top. Videos to come.

  • JohnBlackyoldtimer (registered bidder) 1 year, 1 monthago

Gemballa also had his cars tuned by RUF. Has this vehicle also received a tuning? Unfortunately nothing can be seen. Then there seems to be a lot of paint damage from rock chips on the noralgic points. Can you please post more photos of these places so that the effort can be better estimated? Please also explain what the hydraulics are for, which are located in the front of the trunk next to the amplifiers. Driving videos and a cold start video would also be helpful. Can the soft top be opened electrically? Thanks.
